The presumption here is that we don't have any new information come out over the next 6 weeks, positive or negative. Purely based on what we know right now, yay or nay?

Easy yes for me as I'd have taken him at #2 if we traded with Houston.

Yes. A bit concerned about him not playing hard every play but too nuch talent to pass up at 9.
Where are my old Chicago Bears and what have you done with them, Ryan Poles?

I'd take him at 9 for certain. Actually, i'd play a game within a game.....I'd see if I could set a NFL draft record by selecting him within the first :05 seconds.

But, I know Poles values DB's. This draft has some really good DB's in top 10-20 picks. I'm still in favor of seeing if we can't turn 9 into 2 picks before #54 (without giving up 54)

I voted yes.

While my preference is either Myles Murphy or Bijan Robinson at 9, Carter seems to already have the traffic incident behind him.

I do think he's stupid, but the stupid can be coached out.

There's a similar feel here to when Randy Moss dropped and I still remember screaming from the hills for the Bears to draft him.

At 1, my answer would have been no.
At 4, my answer would have been no.
At 9 … in THIS draft? I’d have to take the shot.

I’m not sure I see what makes him so special but too many people way smarter than me see him as a true difference maker.

Assuming the background work checks out — and I don't have any particular insight into that — the answer is a resounding yes.

If he's there, I take him at 9 and don't look back.

If Poles/Eberflus feel comfortable with the man after talking to him AND getting more background information, I say yes.

This could be Warren Sapp 2.0.

Yes, if nothing further develops.

How did Carter acquire his $90K vehicle?

Yes. After watching that video where you hear people telling him to leave, I think he may not have been “racing” when it happened

Without knowing who is on the board it's tough to say. I'd draft the OTs(besides Skoronski) or JSN probably if it were me in Poles seat. I won't be upset if we go dline and I'm much more ok with Carter at 9 than at 1.

Since I would go offense, I picked no.

NIL arrangement with a dealership. Widely discussed and to all appearances above board.

And yeah, I'd take him over anyone in the draft. 1 or 9.

I want the best OL available at 9.

Z Bear posted it in the thread about his stock falling so credit to where credit is due.

At about the 1 minute mark you hear someone say "JC" and "Jalen" and tell him to leave. Jalen has said he wasn't there at the time of the crash, so this helps me envision a case that after he "took off" from the light, the other vehicle passed him, he fell back and drove up on the scene shortly after. His teammates/friends at the scene realized he shouldn't be there and he took off. It possible he was next to the vehicle when it happened. But to me the biggest issue I had when the story broke was I pictured them racing, the wreck happens and he keeps on going leaving people behind. He clearly stopped which wipes away the biggest issue for me. There's a difference between being in your early 20s; thinking your invincible; and doing stupid crap like drag racing, as opposed to leaving a friend behind to maybe die because you didn't stop to help.

Emphatic yes. He's been mocked to the Bears a good amount of time at #1. Getting him at 9 would be insanely fortuitous. Getting either Carter or Johnson at 9 would be a big part of the reason why I rated the draft move a 10. Even if Poles likes someone else like Skoronski for whatever reason, or a CB... if a few of those target players are there and Poles gets his pick... that's mission accomplished.

Surely it depends on what happens in free agency? There's little point in picking OL if Poles loads up in FA.

Not only that but it's easier to find quality OL outside the first round than it is a quality pass rusher.

I want the OL upgraded as much as the next guy, but the DL needs upgrading even more.

Let's take this a step further... would you trade #9 and #53 to move up to #5 knowing that Seattle may be interested in him?

If that were true, you'd want to draft an OT there as well.

Is there any change depending on FA here?

Like if we don't land a top tier DT FA?

I want a plan that allows Poles to draft one blue chip OL - one of those picks that everybody agrees is a safe investment of first round draft capitol. That's where #9 is penciled in.

So if they sign a high-priced RT, you want them to take an interior lineman at 9 over a DL?
