Apparently we won’t be drafting a RB

One year 3 million. I'll take it for sure.
Got a good RB room. Like the WR room. Got a much better 2nd TE than last year.
Fields/Getsy has weapons to work with

but if he's going to pay a back, 1 year 3 million is not bad.

He's hefty. Is he a power back?

He's a load with very little to offer receiving.

So they preferred Foreman (3) + Homer (2.25)
over
Montgomery (6) + Evans (1)
over

I kind of dig Homer. Very versatile. I liked him coming out of college. Glad he's a Bear. BUT, we could do better if the opportunity exists.Arkansasbear wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 6:57 pmCould still find an upgrade to Homer in the draft I’d think. But getting to the point we don’t have positions we MUST draft to field a team.

At least 3 DL and one OL short still.Arkansasbear wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 6:57 pmCould still find an upgrade to Homer in the draft I’d think. But getting to the point we don’t have positions we MUST draft to field a team.
But there are plenty of areas with more competition and upgrades they'll attack in draft. Don't get too attached to anyone on roster from last year lol

This is a weird one IMO. 6’1 and nearly 240. Seems like an odd fit.

I know it's not Fields' strength, but does he have anyone who can catch a pass leaking out of the backfield?

I really like this signing. He’s got juice and he’s a punishing runner.
I think both he and Homer are adequate pass catchers. I think though that the screen game will run through the WRs and the checkdowns will be to TEs.

He was stuck behind guys (like Henry) but got a chance when CMC was traded, emerged & helped Carolina win down the stretch. Don't discount his receiving I don't think Poles would sign him unless they felt he can.
He's kind of a beast. Love this.

Yep. Getting there. We are much closer than when FA started. I think DL and OL will still be our biggest need but think it’s possible we won’t have a complete void at any one spot. Still need to upgrade in several area but no position room will be viewed as a complete joke. The Cooler King wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 7:38 pmAt least 3 DL and one OL short still.Arkansasbear wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 6:57 pm

Trenches in the draft, gents - in a pretty well stocked draft for them. At least one OL (I think 2 - OT and C) and at least 3 DL. Count on it.Arkansasbear wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 10:06 pmYep. Not a bad signing but why Homer? He's not really special at anything except for having fresh legs because of lack of use. Why not Jaamal Williams, signed for $4M per year, and draft a guy?
Drafts are like snowflakes, no two are alike.

I'm guessing Homer is a really good ST player. Idk if we have any WR's that are also ST guys....someone on this site did say that ESB was good at ST with GB.....so maybe now that his role will be diminished then he probably goes back to ST

Jamaal Williams: 4.59 40-yd
D'Onta Foreman: 4.49 40-yd
Travis Homer: 4.48 40-yd
That's why.

Foreman just looks more explosive than Monty, and still has the power. (HeMan)

I remember watching the Panthers a few times last year but really only knew about Foreman breaking out from Fantasy... it does help you keep tabs on who is doing well in the league that's for sure.
When CMC was traded it was assumed that Hubbard would take over - but Foreman seized the opportunity and the primary job and kept the former 2nd rounder Hubbard as a backup mostly. Foreman has the speed to bounce it outside, has pretty good vision, and has violence to his running style. Go to the 6:00 mark - he's a really big back with a good cutback and wiggle to go with his speed.
Foreman doesn't get a lot of pass targets - maybe because he's not a good pass blocker. HIs pass block grade is quite horrible (maybe they think they can fix?). But it was only 14 snaps last year so not sure how much weight to put on that. But if they can work on that he can catch & has two receiving TDs and a good catch rate.
I'm guessing he's going to split carries with Juice, and that's going to be a really good one-two punch. I'll also guess Foreman is going to be the guy on short yardage, and Juice is going to stay a change of pace back and is going to take over for Monty as being the guy on passing downs because Herbert's pass pro grades were pretty close to Monty's. Homer is also a good 3rd down / passing down type guy too - so maybe Foreman will be relegated to earlier downs, shorter yardage and red zone carries where he is a beast.
If you like Monty's 3-3.5 ypc with 1-3 yards to go, you'll love Foreman's career average of 4.5! Especially on 3rd and 1-3 where he averages 5.4. Note: he wasn't good on 3rd and short last year but his career number is really good. He only had 7 attempts on 3rd and short last year and it looks like he got tackled for loss a few times.... more on the oline than him, IMO.
I don't see them drafting a RB but have put themselves in a pretty good position where if a guys like Chase or Deuce falls they can grab them as a luxury.

Did a little digging on Foreman and the results are: excellent! I’m really excited about this guy, I think he was stuck behind an elite high volume back and when he got his shot to play he looked outstanding. His style suits our offense well, he’s tough and low and decisive. A better short yardage guy than Herbert but not just a short yardage guy at all. Four thumbs up. RB room is set.

His tape isn't overly wow-inducing, but man, he's physical. He'll get those short yardage conversions and bruise up would-be tacklers.dplank wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 8:22 am Did a little digging on Foreman and the results are: excellent!
