Is Andy letting McNagy call plays?

For all non-Bears happenings in the National Football League

The playing by KC tonight has been questionable a bunch. Truly looks like crap McNagy would call

Sweep on 4th and 1 for a loss of 3? Only one man on the field tonight was capable of that sort of simultaneous overthinking and stupidity.
So much road and so few places, so much friendliness and so little intimacy, so much flavour and so little taste.

Maybe he's not there to run the i-formation either?

With a TE under center!

Not sure if this belongs here but it’s harkens back to the Matt Nagy era in Chicago.

This article is specifically about Matt Nagy’s atrocious play calling in last nights Chiefs vs Lions game.

Don’t get me wrong — if Kadarius Toney doesn’t pull a Roberto Duran (hands of stone), this is probably all moot but Nagy did what he always does … tried to be too cute to the detriment of his team.

Glad he’s outta here.

I didn't get to sit and watch it, I just had it on while doing other stuff and I missed where they showed him with the play sheet (if I remember correctly when he was the OC Reid still called the plays except for like the half of a game or two). When I saw that play, McNagy has his prints all over it.

Twitter is having a hay day with it all.

And my favorite:

I mean, the Chiefs win if Toney doesn't shit his pants for 4 quarters.

Pretty sure Andy Reid calls the plays. They both hold a play sheet and Nagy may be the guy communicating the play to the headset, but Reid has called plays there for a long time I think. That said, it was very Nagy-esque last night. And I'm also glad he's out of here.

When the backup TE moved to take the snap at center on 3rd and 1 .... that smelled like Matt Nagy.

Kind of tangentially, i am extremely interested in seeing what the Commander's offense looks like this weekend. Which feels like an extremely weird thing to say.

Hell he could have done it for 3 quarters and if he makes that catch in the 4th quarter the Chiefs win.

Sheesh, I'd forgotten that Kelce didn't play. He's picked up plenty of first downs that way...but he's Kelce, and no one else is. Which is the sort of thing that you'd kinda want to bear in mind if you're...aw, to hell with it. We're in a safe place now, and the bad man can't hurt our gameplans.

Didn't the Giants take him with our original pick?

That makes the trade:

Fields

for

A WR who can't catch, a guard who can't block, and a TE who couldn't keep his team from spending $17 million on the position.

2nd year into MAhomes' big cap hit era... he's going to have to get used to performing with less talent around him.

Mahomes will be Mahomes, he'll deliver to the best of his supporting cast's abilities. As for McNagy calling plays, I don't think Reid's suffering from early onset dementia.

Well, he either let McNagy do it OR sucked all by himself

It physically pains me to think about but the Jets have Rodgers at $9m, $17m and $23.5m over the next three years, assuming he doesn't renegotiate for yet more. $50m over the period whereas Mahomes will have a total cap hit of $134m. Just an incredible deal for the Jets given the way that the cap treats signing bonuses.

It doesn't pain me too much because Bears just might get a chance to kick his ass before he retires.
No matter how you try to box him in, whatever realistic scenario you propose to build around him is going to include the fashion aspect(s) of Caleb's dramatic personality.

There were a suspicious number of plays which smelled like McNagy so this seems more likely. But Reid didn't let Biennemy call plays. Not sure how much McNagy 1.0 iin his first iteration called plays. There was the first half of a playoff game against the Titans in which the Chiefs O just sucked big time. Reid called plays in the 2nd half and the Chiefs came back to win the game.

Didn't watch much of the game. Actually tried because I love watching Mahomes. Is it me, or does the Chief offense seem to be laboring more than they have in the past? It seems as if they are not in sync and they are just not as potent as in the past.

Opinions.

Mahomes isn't throwing to speed demon Tyreek Hill anymore, so teams aren't fearing the deep ball.

I like Rashee Rice and Skyy Moore, but they're not deep threats.
Marquez Valdez-Scanling and Kadarius Toney have the speed, but aren't reliable.
