Andy Reid is the king of screens though. Brian Westbrook's entire game was screens.
Is Andy letting McNagy call plays?

He wasn't throwing to Hill last year either and the O didn't look this stagnant. It is like they have no rhythm.thunderspirit wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 11:22 am Mahomes isn't throwing to speed demon Tyreek Hill anymore, so teams aren't fearing the deep ball.
I like Rashee Rice and Skyy Moore, but they're not deep threats.
Marquez Valdez-Scanling and Kadarius Toney have the speed, but aren't reliable.

Fair enough — it ain't like Mecole Hardman was all that and a bag of chips on the '22 Chiefs.Otis Day wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 2:20 pmHe wasn't throwing to Hill last year either and the O didn't look this stagnant. Maybe Nagy is involved, I dunno. Just seems like Occam's Razor suggests the personnel isn't scaring defenses.

Everyone was freaking out early as they developed their offense last year, they’ve lost once and have the best qb in the league. They will be fine.

They lost their LT, the replacement hasn't been as steady. Their WRs aren't scaring anyone but they won the SB without a stud last year. They're 5-1, best record in the AFC (depending on how Miami does Sunday). Still plenty of time to work out awkwardness. And Andy will.

The Matt Nagy effect...What can Matt Nagy do about Chiefs’ collapse late in games?
The iconic NFL offense of the past decade is, all of a sudden, average. And in the second half, it’s just plain abysmal.
So what will Matt Nagy do about it? In his first season as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator, the former Bears coach is overseeing an epic meltdown late in games. The latest came Monday night, when the Chiefs were held without a single second-half point for the third straight game.
In the second half this season, the Chiefs rank last in rushing touchdowns, third-to-last in total yards and 19th in passing touchdowns.
“Just have to get better at the second half,” quarterback Patrick Mahomes said after losing 21-17 to the Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch Monday at Arrowhead Stadium. “I mean, all season long we haven’t played great football in the second half.”
It’s worse in the fourth quarter. Mahomes has one passing touchdown in the final frame, which has him tied for No. 32 in the NFL. He has a 68.9 passer rating in the fourth quarter, which ranks No. 37. He ranks No. 23 in fourth-quarter first downs, 41st in fourth-quarter completion percentage and No 41 in yards per pass in the final frame.
“We’re kind of shooting ourselves in the foot,” coach Andy Reid said. “I’ve got to do a better job helping out with that and then my guys have got to do the same thing. So, we’ve all got to pick it up a notch there in the second half. (We’re) just not as sharp there.”

The headline should probably say "What can Andy Reid do about Chiefs’ collapse late in games?" with answer being "Take control of the offense back from Matt Nagy."

No, that’s just what happens to a QB and offense when you have terrible WRs. Signed, Justin Fields, 2022.

Guess who is creeping back into top 10 in total yards and points, just like last year.southdakbearfan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 2:24 am Everyone was freaking out early as they developed their offense last year, they’ve lost once and have the best qb in the league. They will be fine.

Nagy was a bad coach but he can design an offense. He just has no idea how to call plays in a rhythm.

The Chiefs offense has totally broken down this season, especially the past few games. Mahomes looks ordinary, hesitant, stumbling. The run game is non-existent. The WRs suck. Taking much of the heat is Matt Nagy. There are numerous rumors that the Chiefs will replace their entire offensive coaching staff this offseason, probably reassigning Nagy to a position out of direct control of the offense:

"But Nagy’s offense has done what I thought could never be done. It has turned the best player in football into an anxious, jittery, and hesitant player unsure of what’s going to happen every single time he takes the snap."Grizzled wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 7:39 am The Chiefs offense has totally broken down this season, especially the past few games. So basically what he did to Trubisky who wasn't the best player in football. Even with Trubisky's continued poor performance in Pittsburgh you can't help but wonder just how much those formative years can make or break a QB's career.

You know take out the words “best” and “in football” and that description could be used for a player at Soldier Field …..HisRoyalSweetness wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 2:05 pm

Great news - but not a total surprise.

I know we like to rag on Nagy (for good reason) but did he really have a lot of say in how the offense was run? I thought I remember hearing that his was more of a figurehead role and Reid was the one actually running the offense.

Nagy is their Phil Snow. He does the advance scout work and helps prepare the weekly game plan. I'm sure he has some "input" on gameday with Reid, but it's Reid's show.
I think part of what's happening in KC is what seems to happen with Andy Reid teams - much like Jon Gruden teams and Bill Billichick teams - they value their scheme/culture fit to such a degree that they allow too much talent to leave. I get how important those things are, but there are players like Tyreke Hill that sometimes warrant exceptions. Their OL is not the same, and no QB - not even Mahomes - can overcome a terrible OL and win consistently.
