It's the Panthers, so let's hope he does well but not well enough to help them actually win any games.

If he is healthy, Bears can poach him from their PS and he can return punts for the Bears. He has to be better than VJJ.
A new Era begins in the NFC North!

Happily, it finally involves the Bears.... :toast: :headbang: :transform: :jump:

Well Trent Taylor is the punt returner so I'm not sure what Velus has to do with anything.

I totally forgot about that guy! I guess with the defense failing to get stops on 3rd down we did not see alot of punting by GB. :D

Panthers put ex-Bear Tarik Cohen on injured reserve

Whatever hope Tarik Cohen had of a reunion with the Bears on Thursday night was ruled out Monday, when the Panthers’ running back/returner was put on practice squad injured reserve.

Panthers coach Frank Reich said last week that Cohen had a “setback” with his hamstring. He is ineligible to play the next four games.

Cohen is trying to return to game action for the first time since he tore his knee returning a punt in Atlanta as a member of the Bears in 2020. He didn’t play for them again and became a free agent after the 2021 season. Cohen tore his Achilles tendon in May 2022 while training for a comeback.

He eventually signed with the Panthers in September, where he’s served as a member of the practice squad.

Cohen's been cut by the Panthers.

I wonder if he'll now call it a day.

I absolutely hated Tarik Cohen. I cannot stand the short little skippy players. Football is for real men. Not for people who look like they couldn't get on Space Mountain.

I'm the complete opposite - love watching little, fast dudes do amazing things, and Tarik was no exception. I also loved watching Nate Robinson when he played with the Bulls. Maybe it's because I am a little guy (5'8", 165 - about the same as high school) who played center on my high school football team, idk.

They're kind of fun to watch and root for.

But they're generally pretty replaceable and pretty breakable. You have to keep your valuation of them under control.

Garrett Wolfe in R3 was a terrible idea from the get-go.
Cohen in R4 was more reasonable, but I hated the big 2nd contract they gave him. And then he got wrecked 5 minutes after signing.

How could you hate the guy when he was producing exciting "explosive" plays on a pretty regular basis?

He played 51 games, averaging just 29 offensive snaps per game, yet he:
  • Rushed for 1101 yards at 4.2 ypc and scored 5 TDs
  • Logged 209 receptions for 1575 yards and 9 TDs
  • Completed 2 of 3 pass attempts for TDs
  • Made 25 offensive plays of 20 yards or more with 5 going for over 40 yards
  • Returned 96 punts for 985 yards at 10.3 yards a return
  • Had 13 punt returns of over 20 yards and 4 over 40 yards with 1 TD
  • Was named 1st Team All Pro and to the Pro Bowl as a returner in his second season
  • Twice finished in the top 10 in the league for all-purpose yards
It's a very great shame his career was effectively ended 3 games into his fourth season by an illegal hit when he'd called for a fair catch.

None of that matters to me. He was an overly excited little person and I find that visually irritating.

I will admit I wasn't his biggest fan. He was like the Barry Sanders of punt returns. He would piss me off by running backwards and side to side. Then the mofo would break one and have me cheering.

Are we talking about Cohen... or that fella who's getting inducted into the Hall of Fame in a few months?

Yet Hester did the same things you say Cohen did i.e. run backwards and side to side, sometimes breaking one.

Hester was the greatest of all time. Cohen was overrated and declining. He has 1 career return TD. 1. A punt return in 2017. Please, don't insult the GOAT.

The first video is a good watch. Has a couple of Easter eggs to catch when watching it. Get to see Miller make a TD catch and you see the one play Keven White made in his NFL career - throws a block that lets Cohen pick up some extra yards (although White did almost have another play, seems like he caught a hail marry but got tackled at the half yard line)

Yeah I wouldn’t be upset if he treads on Aaron’s hamstring by mistake ;)

Dumb shit like this you carry with you forever. I'll always have a place in my heart for that dude, even if he was sort of a flash in the pan.

Am I the only one genuinely afraid for the little guy? This seems like it's a really dangerous, and stupid, move on his part.

Like @LacertineForest, I always get excited by the smaller guys because it's the classic underdog story. To see guys who defy expectations make a career out of it is awesome to see, whether they're Darren Sproles or Muggsy Bogues. Not sure how that is anything but inspiring.
