He did some nice things at Temple I guess but has otherwise been pretty underwhelming. That Rhule didn't bring him to Nebraska should say something.

A little more about him and his connection with Eberflus courtesy of Patrick Finley over at the Sun Times:
Bears hire veteran coach Phil Snow as defensive analyst

Snow was most recently the Panthers’ defensive coordinator from 2020-22. Snow followed coach Matt Rhule from Baylor to the NFL. Most of Snow’s experience came from college, save for a stint with the Lions from 2005-08.

He connects to Eberflus through Rod Marinelli, the former Bears coordinator, now retired, who is a mentor for the Bears coach. When Marinelli was the Lions’ head coach from 2006-08, Snow was his linebackers coach. The two worked together at Cal in the late 1980s and Arizona State in the early 1990s.

Snow will work inside Halas Hall developing advance scouting reports for Eberflus off film study. He will not attend games.

“We certainly welcome him, and his experience ... ” head coach Matt Eberflus said. “He’ll be here Monday giving us those reports, Tuesday giving us those reports as we do our game planning, and then he’ll be certainly helpful to our defensive staff.”

Marinelli introduced Eberflus to Snow at the NFL Scouting Combine years ago. Eberflus said they have similar beliefs defensively.

“He also has other experiences, which is really cool,” Eberflus said.

Not to say there's anything inspiring about this hire — there's not — but I know I, for one, wouldn't be interested in living in Lincoln, NE.

I would not be at all surprised if that's mostly pretty accurate.


And that's not to say any of the 3 of them should have done differently.


Just that the whole thing is very...'whatever'.

Some good chops, did a great job with the Panthers' D. But I'm unclear what the Bears' will actually use him for. Flus apparently will still be calling the D.

All I can say is that were centers available in the draft. Maybe they weren't the exact ideal but that's what coaching is for.
