Looks like Patrick, Freeney and Kramer have been taking all the snaps at center.

That huge egg on the face of the coaching staff. Whitehair was deemed to be the starter at the beginning of the season and once he's thrust into that role make it less than 3/4 of a game (I don't recall when they actually pulled him, trying to get all memories of the game out of my head - TMP please don't ship me and Member Berries  ).

Fucking christ we will never be rid of Patrick at this rate.

It still really bothers me Poles didn't take John Michael Schmitz or another center in the draft.

Apparently according to Jahns, the starting line for Sunday is going to be:

LT: Borom
LG: Whitehair
C: Patrick
RG: Jenkins
RT: Wright

And they are likely going to put Davis on IR tomorrow.

Just about every single fucking person on this board said that Whitehair was a liability at C. There were a few that still defended him as an NFL G, but I don't believe anyone was sold on him as a C. Yet here we are. Lucas isn't any better. We let Eiselen walk. I would try Carter there maybe? Kramer is terrible.

I think Whitehair is a better C than G and have his whole career. I just think he's done. Which is why it's criminal we didn't draft a center!

Carter took a lot of snaps at center both at the senior bowl and in camp/preseason as a rookie after Kramer and Patrick went down. I still hold out hope that someone will give him a shot there someday.

I just dont think it's really fair to Whitehair to continually be jerked back and forth from center to guard ad infinitum.

What's the over under on the number of different OL starters we have for the season.

Let's shoot for the moon, I say 17. We don't start the same 5 in same spot at any point this year.

Yeah, that seems to be this staff's typical solution. Just move Jenkins... AGAIN!

That made my eyes bulge at first, but I suppose it makes sense.

Whitehair has played years of LG, virtually 0 RG
Jenkins has played 1 season of RG and maybe 3 games of LG

The only other thing you could do is keep Jenkins at LG, start Carter at RG, bench Whitehair.

When 3 out of your 4 good linemen have missed the majority of the season so far, this is what you get.

Yeah at first I thought "here we go again" but it's the positions they played last season, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Not a fan of moving Jenkins again - or anyone for that matter. This philosophy is stupid but we keep doing it. If a guy goes out, plug in his replacement and keep everyone else in their preferred positions

Wasn't one of the first things Poles said on becoming GM that the previous regime had been playing guys in the wrong positions? Yet ever since all they've done is shuffle guys around from one position to another. Ironic that.

Yep. Multiple injuries often mean musical chairs on most teams, not just this one.

We have a better option though. Keep everyone where they are, and start Carter at RG. Problem solved.

Whitehair blows, let him ride the pine.

Our OL keeps missing assignments and shit - how can they not realize that the shuffling is part of that? I get we’ve had injuries, but that’s what backups are for. Plug them in and provide help if you need to, but the musical chairs bullshit is not a good plan.

I feel compelled to admit that I thought Whitehair was a decent C. He played well there before just had some snapping issues that I figured were easily fixed - guess not. I HATED him at G though, thought he was criminally bad there as was Lucas.

I think at this point, Carter is at least as good as Whitehair is.

You know how you know your team sucks?

When you wish you still had Sam Mustipher at C. At least we could count on snaps getting there and the line knowing what the eff they're doing. Sam Mustipher was our favorite tomato can/punching bag of a player, and right now I believe he'd elevate the play of everyone around him on the offense. :frustrated:

I had the same thought today and it's terrible. But also true. I'd trade Patrick for him in a heartbeat.

I understand your view, but it's not like Jenkins is at an unfamiliar position. You state that LG is Jenkins' preferred position. How do you know that? I kinda thought Whitehair-Patrick-Jenkins would be the outcome this week, based on playing your best five. I do think there's an argument to be made for playing Carter at RG since he played better there and Whitehair hasn't been great at OG the last couple years. But who knows? Maybe they'll move it around your way in the 2nd half. lol
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Go back to leather helmets, NFL.

His preferred position is LT. But he has been training at LG all year long, so that’s why I want to keep him there. And I want to keep everyone else wherever they have spent the majority of their time as well. Our lack of cohesiveness up front stems directly from all the shuffling around IMO.

Jenkins moving for LG to RG is honestly the least of the concerns for the OL.
