Does anybody have contact with this guy? Used to be you could mention his name and he'd appear in your Bears feed like Kazoo from the Flintstones or something...guy was that stitched into the Bears Borg/Stream or something. He had a knack for finding Bears nuggets with greater regularity than any search engine you could find.
I know there are a handful of old cbfans peeps here (may the site rest in peace, LOL), which is where he spent a bunch of his time. Wondering if anyone here has any communication with the dude.
So...I've sent up the bat signal, or pointed head symbol.

Man I haven’t heard from/of him since the board that shall not be named. He was a good dude though. Be cool to see what he’s been up to.

I was one of the admins of that board for a long time, and eventually got less and less involved. Between all the baby sitting of arguments and then trying to produce my 2 blogs/week (Noots' Notes Injury Report and the PostGame) I had zero time for anything else, let alone actually enjoying the game like a fan would.Man I wonder how that unhappy person is that ran that into the ground.
I say the above to preface my response--I have no real idea what you're referring to, LOL! And I'm really glad I don't. I don't ever want to be that sucked into that stuff so deeply ever again, as much as I really love my Bears football. I'm grateful that this board is here, and that you've all been welcoming to me, even if there might be some lingering cbfans stink on me or something.
PS: the quote thing here really enjoys me quite a bit.

I think they are talking about a different board Noots. Most of cbfans integrated over here nicely, but apparently there was some other board that was a complete shit show - I don't know what it is. We did bring Gibron over here, I suppose that's a black eye, but he didn't last long before he was banned. So I dunno, maybe we are the red headed step children here lol...Noots wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 1:28 pm

Board moderation sucks a big one. I took a hands off approach at CBfans, but you really can't win either way.

webwaymonsters is where a lot of us came from. At the time I was there I was also posting heavy at a place called the Huddles. Each team had their own page within the site. Teams were grouped by their division and each divisional site had a smack talking page.

An opening tag shouldn't have the forward slash, only a closing tag. If you click on preview before posting and it doesn't look right then that's something to check.

Noots was a mod at the forum I was referring to as well. WWM is where most of us came from (and why this place exists) due to the owner of that forum having himself some sort of catastrophic mental break.dplank wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 2:57 pmI think they are talking about a different board Noots. WAB, thank you for nudging my vague memory banks on this and on that message board. I don't even recall being an admin over there but probably was one in name mostly, but by then I was likely trying really hard to GTFO of being an admin or being sucked into what I felt was too much admin/message board drama. All the PMs from assorted monikers wanting me to ask someone to chill out and be the peacemaker, blah blah blah.
Anyway, was looking for Coneyo. Nothing serious. Just remembering where I recall he had worked, and that there was a current work connection of mine who was there for a handful of years and wondering if they worked together, trying to see if anyone even recalled his real name. You'd think I would, since I'd met him once, while I was in Chicago at a pub over by Ohare. I think I was out with Wulfy and Gridiron Assassin.

No one wants to talk about the PTSD from the Grossman/Orton wars, but it's real and it haunts so many of us to this day.

San Francisco has always been my favorite booing city. I don't mean the people boo louder or longer, but there is a very special intimacy. Music, that's what it is to me. One time in Kezar Stadium they gave me a standing boo.

It actually had more to do with the Obama/McCain election opinions. I remember he had a list of people who were to vacate immediately or he would just take the site down rather than ban everyone he didn't like. It was actually pretty entertaining from the sidelines if you brought your popcorn.
Speaking of all that... the website is no more. Looks like the domain is for sale if anyone felt like buying it and pissing on the ashes or something. Or just make it redirect here for ultimate irony.

I'll put a mirror right next to the TV and just start my Restorative Healing Circle Process every time Whitehair snaps one into the stands, JF1 misses a read on a wide open DJ Moore, or the defense allows a conversion on 3rd and 15.

Hence our very strict “no politics” rule. Dude was unhinged about more than just that though. Him wishing death on my (at the time) unborn child was pretty much when I checked out.KOP_Snake wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 3:09 amIt actually had more to do with the Obama/McCain election opinions. I accept that we as fans get passionate about our team and our perspectives, it's a part of what makes this fun (and quite irritating lol), but Jesus fucking Christ. What a horrid excuse for a human being.

Wow, that's all next level shite. I just want to be clear to anyone who is reading down this thread and may not be sure about the details. The dude who fell off his trolley and clearly needed some kind of mental help was NOT conehead. Conehead's a great dude, loyal Bears fan, upstanding humanoid creature.

That's insane. I get the whole "keyboard warrior" syndrome, but that seems way out of wack for even that.wab wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 10:04 amHence our very strict “no politics” rule. Chicago Bear Report begat Jeff Timm's, which begat Web Way Monsters , which begat Monsters of the Webway (LOL) which begat BFO . Did I miss any? Timms went nuts, Then Wydawg and his Bud (Forget his name) went nuts , et.al. Been around since CBR. AND I still miss my BFF Bear Fan , The one and only COACH , MARTYO ! A ton of backroom dealing on the old forums ("I'm the Boss" and "Your banned for disagreeing w/ me!" .
We need more humor and less keyboard warriors.
