Shrine Bowl prospects I'm most eager to see:
  • Carson Steele — In a shallow RB class, I'd like to see him ball out. Does he have enough speed?
  • Jalen Coker — Caught like everything at the Hula Bowl. Let's see if he keeps it up here.
  • Tayvion Robinson — Return specialist who can also catch the ball a bit. Hope he's as fast as he looks on some game tape.
  • Tarheeb Still — good numbers, good size, and probably just enough speed, really want to see how he measures out.
  • JC Carlies — 9 interceptions over the last 3 years and a good share of his team's solo tackles in the SEC. Now you have my attention.
It'll be interesting to see who shows out at C from this group. Matt Lee has had the most snaps there but I don't know if he is strong enough. Dylan McMahon is certainly that, but needs more experience at C (and to stay healthy). And ND State's Jalen Sundell was a C as a freshman and then moved outside to T due to team needs. How does he play back inside?

Worth mentioning: the Shrine TEs and DBs aren't as top-heavy as the ones at the Senior Bowl, but I think they have a bit more depth. Very interested to see how Christian Roland-Wallace and Dadrion Taylor-Demerson measure. Guess we'll see.

Also, Josiah Ezirim looks like another Braxton Jones — similar build and demeanor, and similarly needs coaching.

Wouldn't surprise me, I am thinking he's the guy who gets promoted to DC.

I just hope we find a LB coach who can fill his shoes.

Might be able to pull some late Special teams guys out of the draft.

Was thinking the same thing. He came over from Indy with Flus, and fully understands his system. LB's played well this year. I'd put Borgonzi as the front runner for the position, especially in light of the E-W Shrine game.

Nice, thanks, @bearsoldier.

Taylor-Demerson was a really productive DB in the Big 12.

He might not big enough to be a full-time starter at S (5-10, 189) — or be a Day 2 pick — but he's got enough speed and skill to at land on Day 3 and is smart and savvy enough earn a shot.

Nourzad is an interesting story. No-star recruit out of HS in 2018 became a two-year starter at tackle for Cornell (2019 & 2021, Ivy League had no season in 2020) before joining Penn St as a grad transfer in 2022. Started 8 games that year at G and C despite not having played either spot before.

He'll turn 25 this coming November, so what you see is largely what you'll get. You're hoping for a nice depth piece who can be plugged in at multiple spots if needed, maybe a fringe starter.

Crazy thing is he is not even ranked on many draft sites... It is why I really enjoy the college all-star practices and games. Guys get noticed and make a name for themselves to scouts.

Hope he is invited to the combine.
