I saw a pic of Mac Jones on ESPN and they were in their 80's throwback jerseys, and I was thinking about how much better those jerseys were than the current ones they where...then thought of a couple more teams that have also "gone backwards in style" IMO. Curious if you guys have any others, but these stand out to me.
New England, 80's uni's were the best.
Dolphins, also their 80's uni's were the best.
And of course, the 80's Bucs jerseys were GOAT level
Chargers haven't changed a ton, but the 80's one's were better IMO. These carried into the 90's.
Broncos too....
80's uniforms were great

This change of colours annoys me:
It's far too similar to our beloved's:
Team colours were a lot more distinctive back in the '80s.

Unequivocally better! And the logos too!
I was actually wondering the other day if there's a re-design in that last few decades that actually improves on the former and I could not come up with an example.

I like the modern Denver 'darks' better than Classic Denver.
Other than that, the 80s are almost always better.

also i was surprised that the bills logo goes back to 1974, and that red buffalo was barely around, because it's SOOOO much better.

The Pats looks very stylish when the Bears were pounding them into the ground in SB XX.dplank wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 8:50 am I saw a pic of Mac Jones on ESPN and they were in their 80's throwback jerseys, and I was thinking about how much better those jerseys were than the current ones they where...then thought of a couple more teams that have also "gone backwards in style" IMO. Tampa abandoning those hideous tangerine unis was a step in the right direction. Never a fan of the Chargers powder blue either.Rusty Trombagent wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 10:55 am Unequivocally better! And the logos too!

Like the Chargers powder blue, white helmet with bolts and the #s on the side as well.
I would love for the Bengals to go back to their 70s style helmet with "Bengals" on each side. The tiger stripe is just tired now.
I would love the Bears to do the white "C" when they wear the good humor all white unis.

I thought these were Denver’s colours.

I like how the original herd of buffalo diminishes over time. Just like the majestic legions of bison that once commanded the vistas of [checks notes] eastern Lake Erie.Rusty Trombagent wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 11:28 am also i was surprised that the bills logo goes back to 1974, and that red buffalo was barely around, because it's SOOOO much better.
So much road and so few places, so much friendliness and so little intimacy, so much flavour and so little taste.
Friendship is better than fighting, but fighting is more useful.

I like many of the old uniforms. My daughter just bought 20 year old Jordan's. The old is becoming new again.
I think the best part of the older uniforms was the uniqueness. However the old uniforms like the bumblebee steelers are terrible

yeah, generally any of the old striped iterations were a mistake.
I've got a particular fondness for these washington throwbacks:
I dont know why, i love how clean that "R" logo is.

80s Washington helmets were great too. And non offensive. The should have just changed their name to a non offensive tribe name and kept everything else.Rusty Trombagent wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 9:11 pm yeah, generally any of the old striped iterations were a mistake.

It wasn't bad enough the franchise started off losing like twenty something games their first 2 years. But to do so wearing those orange creamsickle unis was adding more humiliation to the players.

Those Bucs uniforms may be my least favorite jersey in all of sports. Definitely a bottom 5 all time jersey. I feel sick even thinking about them

Why is this considered heresy?
I mean the powder blues were ok, but folks like Chris Berman would have you believe they were akin to the Yankee Pinstripes or something.
I never understood it.

I just like darker colors. The Seahawks use a fluorescent green now on occasion, really do not like it. Their older unis were good looking. The league and teams see more jersey sales when colours change every few years; no big surprise.

Yep, they're going down the soccer route. First Premier League teams had 3 kits: home, away and a third kit in case of clashes with the other two. They used to change one kit a year. Then they just went the whole hog and just changed all the kits every year and they started adding extra kits e.g. if the team qualified for European competitions, ones with poppies for games near to Remembrance Day etc.
In the words of Jessie J, "It's all about the money, money, money."
Hopefully Americans are a little more discerning and don't feel obliged to buy new jerseys every year just to keep up with the latest designs.

I'm kind of surprised teams making the Super Bowl don't have new "special" uniforms just for that game.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 8:37 amYep, they're going down the soccer route. They do, but they're just their normal jerseys with patches added.
