Not sure how I feel about this. Depends in $ I suppose, and hopefully not detracting from other efforts.

Yeah, wasn't Swift injured all the time in Detroit? Or am I thinking of another Lions RB?

Just looking at football reference now. He’d miss about 3 games a year.LacertineForest wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 11:05 am Yeah, wasn't Swift injured all the time in Detroit? Or am I thinking of another Lions RB?

I've been saying we need a dynamic back for this offense and this kid is a threat in both the run and pass game.
Like the move depending upon the cost AND how it compares to Saquon Barkely.

That's a lot of guarantee. So like a 3/24 deal with 15 guaranteed?

It would be good to know what the incremental expense would be to get a Barkley or Jacobs.
But this strategy with Swift makes sense.
We could also be planning a huge push for somebody else and need the extra funds.

Meh. He's a good quality starting RB. But he's also dinged up a lot and doesn't have the upside of Barkley.
But if it gives Roschon Johnson a chance to get some snaps I'm all for it.

Nooooo! MF'er can't stay healthy and really isn't great when ge is healthy. Coaches in Detroit questioned his toughness all the time. Should have just kept Monty. This is a bad move. Don't like it at all.

For all his supposed ability, he completely underwhelms me most of the time.
I will kill you if you cut me at the knees. You will drink with me when invited and stay til I say so. We only listen to American Music. I make men nervous with just my presence. I expect an apology if you hold. I throw linemen at QB's. Believe the Lore!

Poles once again going after positions in FA that have generally been devalued. It'll be interesting to see what else they do, but I have a feeling a top-tier DL is not in the cards.
I'm looking forward to seeing how Swift plays into the offense - hopefully he'll live up to the contract. I also can't see Herbert as being part of the plans beyond this year when they're paying Swift.

Doesn't match up to Poles' usual RAS standards.

Isn't this basically Khalil Herbert? I mean it's fine I guess, but not exactly the first guy I thought they'd target.

He averaged 4.6ypc last season which is also his career average.LacertineForest wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 11:20 amWeird (or deliberate?) that they cut off avg per carry and receiving stats in the screen capture.

Khalil Herbert lost a ton of tread after that knee injury. Swift is still young and can work well in a committee. I think between the 3 of them (Roschon included), the Bears will be solid in the backfield for at least a season.

I think the Bears wanted a RB, to pair with a rookie QB, who has proven to be a RB1. Thats not Herbert.

Herbert has never been the same since the knee. He used to be a foot in the ground hard and cut up field back. Great zone runner. Ever since the knee he hasn't been willing to plant really hard on it.
Still...pretty underwhelmed on the signing. I don't remember him being great in Detroit.

At 5’9” 215, he’s virtually identical to Juice, but he’s caught almost 200 passes in four years, so that’s probably what they like. Probably means Foreman walks.
