Fuaga has played both OT spots and is very similar to Wright. If they were to take him, I would imagine they kick Wright over to LT and send Braxton to the bench. I would not be in favor of this, but I'm not in charge.

Why do you think that? Not being argumentative, just curious.
And if they're using #9 on an OT (and they might), he better be a straight-up quality LT...

Well they used #10 on a RT in Wright last year.
Probably though because Fuaga has been universally considered a RT prospect.

The Bears already have Braxton, though. If they go OT at #9, it better be Alt or Fashanu...

OR .... they could just be doing their due diligence, especially since Oregon's pro day was the day before where they would be seeing JPJ, Troy Franklin, Nix, Brandon Dorlus, Bucky Irving, etc.

An article on the man. He could very well be a Poles target but the issues are would they try him at LT, put him at RT and try Wright at LT, or slide him inside:

Where are my old Chicago Bears and what have you done with them, Ryan Poles?

What's the record for T's taken in the first round? I'm thinking that there could be 5-7 taken this year.

I think if he's the pick, then he probably starts on the right...either at RT or RG.Grizzled wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 12:06 pm An article on the man. He could very well be a Poles target but the issues are would they try him at LT, put him at RT and try Wright at LT, or slide him inside:

I'm probably being unfair to Davis but he left me cold with his 23 season. Bringing in competition for him is one thing but not taking a guy in a blue chip spot, who should be a starter. Big gamble putting him at RT and moving Wright to LT is a gamble.wab wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 8:51 amI think if he's the pick, then he probably starts on the right...either at RT or RG.Grizzled wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 12:06 pm An article on the man. To answer my own question...it was 7 OT's in the first round of the 2008 draft. I think there is a good chance to tie that record this year.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 8:25 am What's the record for T's taken in the first round? I'm thinking that there could be 5-7 taken this year.

For sure:
Joe Alt
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
Taliese Fuaga
Troy Fautanu
Probably:
J.C. Latham
Amarius Mims
Maybe:
Jordan Morgan
Tyler Guyton
Graham Barton (if you consider him a tackle)

I'd bet a hefty sum that Guyton goes on Day 1.
Barton is a maybe, as his arm length probably pushes him inside, but his athletic testing would suggest he's got loads of promise there.

Or could either Wright or Fuaga kick inside to one of the OG spots? I'd be interested to see what an OL with Jones, Jenkins, Fuaga, and Wright would be like. Glad to hear they're taking time to check him out. Other than Alt he's a guy I who think could also be a good investment.

I'm guessing Barton ends up at C for whoever drafts him, and he goes on to have a Pro-Bowl level career. As a C prospect, I think he's on par with JPJ.thunderspirit wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 9:47 am I'd bet a hefty sum that Guyton goes on Day 1.

That's a hard thing to say, because are you counting by:Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 4:07 pmTo answer my own question...it was 7 OT's in the first round of the 2008 draft. Played OT predominately in college
Will probably get tried at OT in the pros
Will probably ultimately end up at OT in the pros
The further you go down the criteria list, the more debatable (without waiting a few years) it gets. But also the further down the list you go, the more relevant it gets.
Without any more information "guy played T in college" doesn't tell you much. Cody Whitehair was a college T, Jatyre Carter was a college T, Teven Jenkins was a college T, Nate Davis played his Sr season at T

And speaking of Kansas State linemen .... Cody Whitehair just signed with the Raiders today.

Wow
With the money he's made, how bad he was last year, and how little he's liable to get for 2025, I figured him for a strong retirement candidate.
Veteran C/G Cody Whitehair has signed with the Raiders (Getsy): 1 year contract for $2.5 million, $1.4 million gtd, max of $3 million
