You beat me by less than a minute, lol.

Not sure how to feel about this. Allen is on the wrong side of 30, is he still elite?

Had a great 2023, looks like.

Yes, but I bet Poles trades down from 9 and still drafts a WR.

This absolutely opens up a trade down from 9. Poles may turn the 9th pick into a big pile of 4th-6th rounders.

I have a feeling we are drafting Dallas Turner at #9 if he's there...

Scouts are saying it's not a very deep draft, I'm not sure Poles passes on someone like Dallas Turner or a bevy of talented OL at #9 in order to acquire more day 3 picks... just my 0.02 doe

He was a great security blanket for Herbert, so he should be great for Caleb Williams. Especially, alongside DJ Moore.

I think they’re pretty much guaranteed to trade down from 9, so Nabers and Odunze are probably not coming though which is kind of a bummer.

He turns 32 in April and is in the final year of his contract.

Unless an extension is forthcoming, something doesn't make sense.

I mean...OK. If he's got anything left. He's going to be 32 when the season starts. He had 1200 receiving yards last year which is great, but can he do it for the next two years? We gave up a 4th. That's a lot for one year on a 32 year old receiver. At this point Poles HAS to trade down with the 9th pick. I don't know. Not a fan of the move right now.

Allen is in the final year of his deal and has a 23 million dollar cap hit.

Odd move, happy to have him but I hope we get more than 1 year. Otherwise I’m not getting it.

Whoa. As stated, his age makes this an interesting move. 31-32 is an age a lot of WRs fall off. Let's hope he still has a lot left in the tank.

I don't get it. He's listed under the dead cap section of the Chargers Spotrac cap breakdown. He counts as $11M against their cap. But now they traded him. Do we have to pick up the $11M?? Because if so, that's a terrible trade.

I'm stunned. SInce it was begining to look increasingly like neither Nabors or Odunze will be there at 9, it's a brilliant move. SInce his contract expires this year I imagine we are working on an extension.
If there is any truth to the possibility Williams might to something to force a trade, this ought to end that for him. No other team that can draft him will be able to offer a 1 - 2 WR combo elite like this. Add the upgrade at RB, The 2 startable Cs to compete/depth, sing T-G depth. But this ought to be the icing on the cake.
Aside, either QB I'm LOVING this trade. This might be the best WR combo we've had in decades.

OK. I don't fucking get it. Poles says he's going to build through the draft, but we've been blowing draft capital. The team is getting older not younger, which isn't great if you're light on picks. I have no idea how much we have to pay Allen next year, but if it's anything over $9M - $10M it's a bad deal.

The consensus appears to be that the back half of this draft is trash. NIL has a bunch of what would be early entrants staying in school.

He’s on the last year of the contract and is coming off an 108 catch season with over 1000 yards.

The idea is to set up your number one overall pick at Quarterback for success with multiple weapons.

This is a great move especially if they can extend him a year or two. He's not his young self but dude catches EVERYTHING, which will help a young QB. Love the move, fuck a 4th round pick, get the QB the best weapons. 1200 yards and he only played in 13 games. Give me 15 and lets go! This also improves DJ. Love it. Have been waiting for something like this all off season.

Honestly I think it is a good move even if they don't extend him. They got one of the most productive WRs in the league for a late round pick. Bears no longer have to spend a top pick on WR and could get a comp pick if Allen signs elsewhere nest season.

This.... As mentioned with Everett signing, watched a lot of Charger games and if he stays healthy... this is very good get. At a minimum, he is another strong receiver option for our QB... With Moore and Allen, we have two very good receivers on the field, adding in Kmet and Everett and Swift... lots of options for the passing game.... and I agree we aren't out on adding another receiver or two...

4th is steep...but he is as proven as you get.... The 23 Million is a big payday - but you had to add a vet wr ... and we did....

Honestly, need a stud QB and More on DL...we are going to be really good...

Put me down as liking this alot. My chargers friends have texting pissed he's gone as he has been the guy for so long...not having him is tough... They also talk about their top WR pick last year doing nothing... so anyone worrying about the pick - I think wait and see.....
