Bummer. BIG mistake by Poles.
My mother's love was inexplicably linked to kickball.

Brilliant pick. Love it.
So much road and so few places, so much friendliness and so little intimacy, so much flavour and so little taste.

Is this the best 1OA QB situation in history?

What I love the most about this pick is he's going to have at least one year to watch/study/learn from Keenan Allen. That is fucking HUGE for a player like Rome Odunze.

Oh and the fact that we might look back on this draft 10-12 years from now as the greatest Chicago Bears QB and WR tandem in franchise history

2023 Preseason Downside prediction:
5-6 wins, never really healthy all season, a constant shuffling.
We're potentially in a position to draft in the Top 5 again, depending on the Carolina team, and probably have a low-teens (or better) pick ourselves.

Love it. Wanted them to trade down, but this is a good pick.

LOVED hearing Rome speak after the pick! SO professional and poised - a HUGE departure from Nabors...
I LOVE this pick! Our O is STACKED, so no excuses for developing CW...

Not only the BPA at #9 but also a kid that was ranked as high as #6 overall. Five years (with option) of team control over both a QB and a top WR under rookie contracts. QB and WR are the two highest paid positions in the NFL and Poles provided a "rent controlled" passing duo that should help the cap and his ability to add FA talent for a SB run. The window is opening again.

Thanks a million to Ryan Poles.
There is a GM named Poles

Previous Bears GMs would have figured out how to screw this up. Poles did it right. He has done everything possible to finally make our QB successful.

Very cool watching that pick with my nine-year-old (we're in the Seattle area). And I'm 11 for 11 so far. Kid, your dad's not a complete idiot.

The Bears going all in on offense is a new experience. I was kind of expecting a defensive player, tbh. We’re truly in a new era.

This is an incredible draft for the Bears so far. I don’t even care who they pick in rounds 3/4.

Some quoted excerpts from Bob McGinn's annual anony-scout quotes.
“He’s a better route-running A.J. Brown from Philly,” one scout said. “He’s going to be a good, strong, built-to-last player.”
“I enjoyed watching his progression over the years,” a second scout said. “He’s very polished but he’s (also) a force as a blocker. He plays well without the ball, so to speak, because of splits, assignments, running routes when maybe the ball’s going in another direction. He’s really come on and gotten better and better. He’s going to be a very solid, solid player in the NFL. He’s not as flashy as the first two but he’s got a flair … some pizazz.”
“He’s a great kid,” said a third scout. “It would not surprise me if Odunze ended up being the best of the class. What’s crazy is he had production and there were three receivers (at Washington) that are getting drafted.”
“Size, speed, great makeup football and person,” said a fourth scout. “Competitive, tough, all about football. Wants to achieve. Good hands. This guy’s a good football player. He’s faster (than Davante Adams). He only ran 4.56.”
“He’s good, but I have some issues with his quickness and his ability to separate,” said a fifth scout. “He’s strong, but his lack of explosiveness really bothered me. I think he’ll be a solid pro. Nothing special.”
“He’s got rare ball skills that you won’t miss on,” a sixth scout said. “But I have a feeling he’s going to end up being like a good No. 2 receiver (as opposed to) a dominant ‘X’ true No. 1.”

The secret is to work less as individuals and more as a team. As a coach, I play not my eleven best, but my best eleven.
