I'm talking about here...this particular forum. Only G08 has really taken an overly passionate anti-Davis stance.

I don't care what the lowest common denominator of useful idiots on Twitter are saying.
That's a mighty harsh categorisation of Courtney Cronin for reporting Davis looked to be limited and therefore didn't take part in the team period! :D
OMG....i swear no one reads anymore! Rusty said "read the comments", he wasn't criticizing Cronin at all...the people replying to her reporting on the other hand...yikes.

Bears G Teven Jenkins: 'Nothing is on the table' for a contract extension

Entering the final year of his contract, guard Teven Jenkins is among the most obvious Bears players to entertain a contract extension between now and the start of training camp.

Nothing is imminent, though.

“We reached out,” Jenkins said Wednesday, “but nothing is on the table.”

At least not yet. Asked how he felt about the lack of action from general manager Ryan Poles, Jenkins said he was “up in the air” about it.

Poles has rewarded his own players in the last year, extending tight end Cole Kmet, defensive end Montez Sweat, nose tackle Andrew Billings, kicker Cairo Santos and cornerback Jaylon Johnson.

“I mean, it’s good to see that stuff — that the Bears are willing to do that,” Jenkins said. “But every situation is different. We have to go about it, me and my agent, however ‘upstairs’ wants to do it.”
...

Jenkins knows there are questions about his durability; in three seasons since the Bears traded up to draft him in Round 2, he’s played in 31 of the Bears’ 51 games.

“Stay healthy,” he said. “That’s No. 1 and of the utmost importance for me right now. Stay healthy, get through the whole 17 games and continue my strong play from last year, and be a more consistent, reliable guy.”
...

On Nate Davis - I think we all agree - it would be nice to see him out there - but its just OTAs

The only reason you cut him is because of a logical fallacy - duh

Eberflus was asked the following about the RG spot and Davis in particular:

Question:
"You've had a lot of moving parts at right guard this spring, some due to necessity, some due to experimentation when we've seen Pryor, Bates, Nate. How do you see that position sort of sorting itself out as you get closer to the regular season?"

Eberflus:
"Yeah, don't know yet. I really don't know. I think that... we'll see, we'll see how it goes. I mean there's... I'm, I'm just thinking through my head a bunch of multiple combinations. I really don't know exactly what that could look like. Sure we had Bates there, he's played there. Sheldon's played at center of course. Davis has played there. Tev's been on the other side, so there's, you know, Pryor's been in and been out you know. So the versatility there is certainly helpful and you know Ryan did a really good job of having those pieces in there. So we don't like last year or prior years, you know, a guy goes down for a couple of weeks then we're like 'oh what are we going to do' so at least we have that flexibility now at the O-line position.

Question:
"Nate isn't the expected starter at right guard?"

Eberflus:
“Uh yeah, he has been our starter, right? You know, so I expect him to be in there.”

Question:
"It looked like he was in a ramp up period. Do you, is there any concern that he won't be full go by training camp if he's dealing with something?

Eberflus:
"Yeah, I don't think so. I mean obviously we'll have the medical meeting with Dre at the end of this whole process here, but again I don't know that for 100%, but I don't, I haven't heard that or foreseen that."

Eberflus certainly didn't seem 100% committed to Davis remaining the starter at RG. It sounded more like there's going to be real competition for those interior spots on the offensive line. And that's how it should be.

I generally take Coach speak with like a full Salt Lick but....

I have found they don't really have any reason to be honest THOUGH

It usually falls into 2 categories of lies/truths/whatever

1) Sending a message - Trying to light a fire under a guys ass

2) Over positivity - trying to get them confidence back

No actually what happened was...Caleb threw the ball, ran all the way down the field...caught it...and handed it to Vah Jay Jay. No other way that happens.

This is the only logical explanation.

Its certainly nice to hear about VJJ, but without video evidence it's hard to believe. I think I'm gonna need to see it. Maybe DJ Moore was wearing VJJs jersey in some weird teammate bonding ritual? That seems more believeable then VJJ catching the ball.

I feel bad for VJJ, he's had limited opportunities that coincided with a bad case of the yips. Catching a football is easy AF, I have a hard time believing a supreme athlete like him can't catch a goddamn football. Fielding punts is harder, I wouldn't trust him there anymore - but there's no reason he can't catch passes. I'm rooting for him.

I'm absolutely rooting for him. But dammit he was bad last year. He's 27 years old. If he's gonna pull some Deebo Samuel shit, it's gotta be early and often.

Yep I was thinking that.

This whole thing about how Velus actually caught a pass smacks of bullshit and reminds me about the moonshiners who claim to see Bigfoot or the women who say an alien impregnated them.

I want a video that’s been scanned for deep fakes or GTFO.

While we’re on the topic of Velus.

@IE if you’re out there brother I want you to come back. Nobody gets them all right. Ok fine you were wrong about Velus. Who cares? You’re still great.

Come back and reclaim your sword.

I don’t think he caught it. It looks like the ground assisted with securing the ball.

Yes, I am a 12 year old trapped in a man's body...
