2024 Monsters of the Midway League MOTML Sign Up

The Monsters of the Midway Fantasy Football League (MOTML) league has been a Fantasy League that has been comprised of only Bears fans from our forum for 23 years.

This is just the sign up thread for EXISTING members of the league. Existing members may post here to reaffirm participation. There are 15 members of the league. If a member or two decide to retire from the league we will be happy to post here and ask new members if they would like to join. It is a fun, full keeper league of only Bears fans with lots of history.

I also see that the Planks and Suspects have agreed to a trade, which can go through after keepers are set.

If just one person drops out are we better going with a 14 team league? That give us weeks 1-13 as the regular season and 14, 15 and 16 for the playoffs and we don't have the odd scheduling where one team didn't get a bye week.

That was the plan/intent last fall, and we thought two people were dropping out. Then last minute one decided to stay, and we got stuck with the bye week thing. 12 is ideal but 14 is at least more workable. Better teams with a few fewer teams. Helps people stay enaged.

Full disclosure BBF - and since you can read here in other threads - we have a conversation going on that also included hypothetically modernizing and moving the league to Sleeper - which is a better platform with more capabilities. If we got a critical mass of existing players, the entire league could be moved over with teams intact. What would you think about doing that?

Yes, I feel strongly that just like the Beloved, it's time to modernize this league.

This includes moving it to a more mobile friendly platform which encourages MUCH more trading including off season activity, reducing the number of teams, putting in a plan to migrate to Superflex with 2 x RBs and discuss value and need for K and DST.

If we can't reach a consensus to begin transforming the league then I'll probably bow out this season and look to join a new start up Dynasty league with an improved format. I know a few others share some of these sentiments but perhaps not the majority. I'm in two other leagues one of which I'm the commish-- three is my max. I want to get the most out of each league I'm in and I just don't get that from this format and toolset any longer.

This would be huge. I named myself Palm Beach Planks cause I figured it'd be easy for folks to know my team / BFO link that way.

Yes - and then one of these 16 teams was out last year.... AC46Blitz I think was out. And one other almost dropped but then didn't at the last minute.

If you want to pull the trigger on the other startup league, I'm in - and I confirmed at least 2 more non-BFO folks who would join (and join BFO for draft chat and such - although with Sleeper that wouldn't even be necessary). I might get yet one more. So let's do it Kaiser - let the existing MOTML folks have first shot, and then also open up to BFO to round out the 12 teams.
