The MOTML league has been a fixture here. As noted it’s a long standing league that has bridged many RIP forums and brought many Bears fans together. It’s been a fun league for those that want to play dynasty but at a non $ level. It’s made me a better redraft owner for sure.

However some want another league that’s a little more active and some skin in the game. We would like to see who’s in for a start up money league. Please note your interest here. Also as it’s a start up we’d like to make it fit as many preferences as possible, I know most have a charter by the commish but think if we’re going from scratch we take as many preferences as possible.

Please note your interest and preferences.

Mine:
Superflex
Deep roster
More than standard 7-8 starters. Multiple flex.
No DST, K, IDP
Year round or close to trade season
6pt all TD
Trade no more than 2 years out draft picks
TE premium (1.5 PPR)

I'm in. @The Kaiser I thought you were going to commish - but I will if necessary. Would we be allowed to post in the main forum temporarily instead of this being stuck in the FF forum that prospective joiners probably don't read at all?

I have myself and at least two other guys (non-BFO). Ideally we'd get 12 people. So far:

1. Kaiser
2. Plank
3. BFMN
4. Me/IE
5. IE friend 1
6. IE friend 2
7. Umbali (need to confirm)
8.

Need 5 more.... seems doable. Not sure if I missed anyone.

What are you thinking for the fee? I'm assuming $20, 50 or 100. I'm good with joining if we keep IDP out. Don't want to "learn" what value they bring.

Don't know what "superflex" is TE premium so a brief summary would be great.

superflex is a flex spot where you can start a 2nd QB (you don't have to), or a RB, WR or TE. Usually, superflex leagues have 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 flex and 1 superflex spots. It doesn't really complicate things and really just comes down to "more starters" - and any time you add more players/spots you slightly reduce the value of the ultra-elite players who dominate FF. In other words, it is more parity and better for that reasons. The rosters in the current league are large enough to add spots.

TE premium adds a half-point or so for TE PPR. Some even give TEs a half-point or so for simply being targeted. Again that is intended to broaden the quality of the TE pool like PPR broadened the pool of WRs and elevated some RBs.

I don't know why people don't like IDP - it is just an alternative for defensive presence in the league - the rostering and starting defensive players, and adding a number of specific defensive players and defensive scoring to the league. It is WAY better than the classic kicker and team defenses -which aren't really predictable and just add randomness vs skill to the league. E.g., "I had a better team than my opponent this week & should have won, but they picked up the Jax defense during the bye week and a they inexplicably scored 30 & I lost by 2 points", or "I had a good defense but this week they played Miami and got 40 hung on them". K and team D sucks, man. IDP isn't difficult to understand or manage - it is just knowing what the scoring is, and which players are inclined to stack tackles, INTs, sacks, TFL, etc. Just like with WRs and RBs the FF sites calculate projected points and tell you which players you might want to consider drafting over others. Again it makes leagues better because it spreads the talent pool wider and gives your team more ways to win.

I'm working on recruiting another guy with good dynasty experience who is also an active trader.

I'm in for $ money up to $100. Happy with $50 but will go with consensus.

I'm also open to do IDP, have done it before with one DL, one LB, one DB. Are you planning just one player overall or something else?

I don’t like kickers or defenses in FF that much but over the course of a season the best are somewhat predictable. My reason for not wanting IDP I’ve got to learn their value compared to other spots and have to follow more stats during the season to figure out who needs to be picked up. It’s mostly a time thing for me.

I've got one, maybe 2 that would be interested based on previous league that might not materialize. I want to keep it open for a bit to get anyone from MOTML or general board and also give that league a chance, but can probably push if needed. I'd think $50 is reasonable starting point but if we need lower to get off the ground fine with that.

For me it's just been the leagues with IDP have had a lot of variance in scoring vs. traditional. And for those less experienced it's one more thing to try to get up to speed on IMO.

I would say: Dynasty is one level. Superflex/TE premium is slight adjustment up IDP is a big jump. Devy is Evel Knevel jumping the grand canyon. Think for a start up we go closer to traditional to start.

Can someone give me the link to Sleeper? Main dynasty I've done is MFL and League Tycoon so just want to take a look. I'm not opposed to multiple platforms but using ones I know might make sell easier for new people easier. Might not, but I know most active person in history of existing league said they'd be highly likely to ump in on MFL platform.

I"m down for no defense or kicker at all - just all offense. I have another two leagues like that - they're good.

We'll want to have 3-4 IR spots and probably 4 Taxi Squad spots (for stashing first and second year players for the year - you can take a player out of the TS but you can't put anyone back.

OK folks - we need 4 more. We shouldn't let it go much further, because startup drafts can take a few weeks even at 4 hrs/pick.

In terms of money let's do $50. Remember it is dynasty and you can trade future year draft picks. So if someone does want to trade future draft picks away, they have to pre-pay for that year (to not leave a team without picks if they quit the league).

In terms of payment there is a good free third party site called Leaguesafe that integrates with Sleeper and keeps track of who paid with notifications and such. I'll just need the email address for all players to set that up.

OK @Arkansasbear we'd really want you in. We'll go with no defense or kicker or IDP at all if that is a showstopper - but you have to believe it is really not time consuming. And it is pretty fun to compete and win because LBs or DL can score as much as RBs. It is just a more balanced game, and more like a real football team.

Sounds good. I’m good with $50 as well. Would hope I can send it to someone via Venmo or PayPal. Would rather not get yet ANOTHER app to send money with. Or I can use bank account to bank account thing at my bank Zemmo or something like that.

OK folks - we need 3 more joiners. Anyone else interested? There was someone looking to get into the other league - who was that BWN? I'll get Sleeper and Leaguesafe set up right away when we get to 12 and expect the draft would happen quickly.

I think the pick clock should probably be 8 hours max because people DO have to work and such - but we should agree that people will try to move much faster.

Here is the link to the new league in Sleeper. Please confirm you can access it. Also please have a look at the proposed scoring (it is the widget icon up near the top middle - "league settings"). If folks can't access it to sign up, I'll send to individual emails. But try this first please.

https://sleeper.com/i/VnoPxP73x9GV

I included IDP scoring so folks can see how that works. IF we do IDP (which I prefer but want concensus especially from @Arkansasbear you can see how a LB or DE for example could score as much as a WR or RB. Which makes it really fun.

Two different IDP models are:
- 3 IDP (one DB, one LB, one DL)
- 6 IDP (one DB, one LB, one DL and 3 IDP Flex slots) ... I really like this because it is like fielding close to an entire NFL team. And it really doesn't take any additional time - you just need to pay attention to bye weeks and injuries, and you're doing that anyway to choose starters and use IR.

It looks like we're doing $50/season. People don't have to pay for the 2nd year in advance but if they don't they cannot trade the next year's picks.

Just a little context on anti-IDP for me. In 1 redraft. 1 guillotine. 4-6 dynasty so while I am not a fan it’s also one more consideration on top of ESPN, MFL, dynasty tycoon, and sleeper platforms. So it’s also engagement as I am all about being fully invested and know that would make me less.

We need a couple more people, folks. We're getting there but need to fill the league by the end of the month I believe, in order to get the startup draft done in time. We have plenty of time -but want to not push it.

Hey fellas - put a poll up in the league re: IDP. Please vote when you can.

Also here is the link to Leaguesafe, for the folks who haven't seen it yet.

ALSO - please turn on your notifications for the new league at least until the draft is over. This is important. There are polls going on, and when we draft, we're going to want people to notify the next person in line that they are "on the clock" after we pick.

Ok fellas, we now have a full league and another guy who is very interested. If anyone is having buyer's remorse and might feel like they don't have the time for the league, it is NO problem backing out. Let me know.
