MDDB, first one I did since the order was set. I call this one the smack you in the mouth draft since all the early picks are big mofos for the line plus added a tough yardage RB to convery those and 1 yard situations.

A 3 rounder:
1-10: Kelvin Banks, OT, Texas
2-39: Donovan Jackson, IOL, Ohio State
2-41: Princely Umanmielen, DE, Missiissippi
3-72: Alred Collins, DT, Texas
Throw in a RB and a safety, a WR who can take the top off the field.

I think Jones is a guard, mind you, and a few nits to pick with Day 3, but overall, I couldn't gripe about this much at all.

Excellent stuff. I'm not a big fan of Jones, but he'd be worth developing for a third.Z Bear wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 10:49 am MDDB, first one I did since the order was set. Z Bear's MDDB draft looked similar to the ones I've been running lately, so here's my version.
Skattebo went in the early third, dangit.
1.10: Mason Graham, DT, Michigan. Kelvin Banks is my other idea of an auto-draft if he's there. He never is.
2.39: **Traded (Isaiah Bond) for 2.42, 6.206, 2026 4th
2.41: **Traded (Quinshon Judkins) for 2.49, 3.81, 2026 4th, 2026 6th
2.42: Armand Membou, G, Missouri. Starting to really like him as our next LG. We'll finally have a chance at a new line coach next year, and I think we ought to give him a pair of guards to bring up together. Speaking of,
2.49: Donovan Jackson, G, Ohio St. Here's our RG of the future. Let the backups be backups again!
3.72: **Traded (Jack Sawyer) for 3.79, 5.146. Skattebo just went, so I'm bailing.
3.79: Xavier Watts, S, Notre Dame. Perfect understudy for Byard over the next year or two.
3.81: Mason Taylor, TE, LSU. Thanks for a great career, Marcedes, but you're a walking penalty at this point.
5.146: Tahj Brooks, RB, Texas Tech. The sledgehammer we need. All the nicer since this is one of the picks I got for saying to heck with it after Skattebo was picked ahead of me.
5.147: Tory Horton, WR, Colorado St. Worth a shot here, even though he's injured. I'm a sucker for precocious route-running, and from the clips I've seen, he's got a lot of tricks up his sleeve. Also very fast and pretty tall with great hands, so there's that.
6.197: Gabe Jacas, DE, Illinois. Surprised he's here. If we've got to throw numbers at a position, DE2 seems like a good one.
6.206: Xavier Nwankpa, S, Iowa. Very surprised he's here. A perfect downhill-storming complement to Xavier W.
7.233: Jalen Rivers, OT, Miami FL. He's got the tools, so why not keep the pipeline stocked?
7.244: Mitchell Evans, TE, Notre Dame. Makes two rookie TEs who can block and catch. And three TEs who can stay on the field and contribute in any situation. None of them 230-pound Gerald Everett types, but we never needed that kind of TE.
2026 4th x 2, 6th. Fodder for trade-ups...and another year's payoff from the Carolina trade.

Ugh. Most of my favorites made big jumps on this board.
On the one hand, it's gratifying to get the validation of identifying sought after guys before everyone else's board catches on.
But on the other, it means the quality of your haul in the sim draft goes down and offers less hope and excitement.
Also in this one, I only got offered trades on our very first pick.
I like the key players a lot, it's just that we could use twice as many.
Trade:
1.10 for 1.16 + 2.47
16: R1 P16 DT Kenneth Grant - Michigan (Shrine Bowl)
6'3 340 4.95, FreaksList 3, 83 PFF
Beast can play 0-3T
39: R2 P7 DE J.T. Tuimoloau - Ohio State
6'4 270 4.65, 85 PFF, 5star, 10 sacks
Grant + JT = no more running on this line
41: R2 P9 WR Isaiah Bond - Texas
5'11 180 4.4, 4star
Pure speed that we lack, time to develop as the 3rd WR
47: R2 P15 G Jonah Savaiinaea - Arizona (Senior Bowl)
6'4 335 5.05, FreaksList 37
Has played RT, RG, LT, but RG is very likely his best fit
72: R3 P8 G Armand Membou - Missouri (Senior Bowl)
6'3 325 4.95, FreaksList 39, 89 PFF
Only played RT, but will move inside for the NFL
147: R5 P10 HB/KR Bhayshul Tuten - Virginia Tech (Senior Bowl)
5'10 210 4.35, FreaksList 40, over 1100 yds at 6.3 ypc and almost as good in the previous 2
It's a deep year for HB, but I still struggle mightily to comprehend 150ish being the highest anyone has him
194: R6 P19 WR Nick Nash - San Jose State (Shrine Bowl)
6'2 195 4.6
3 yrs at QB, 3 at WR. Exploded with 1400 yds in yr6.
232: R7 P17 TE Caden Prieskorn - Ole Miss
6'5 255 4.75, almost 1500 yds receiving last 3 yrs
Lacks exciting athleticism, but a good, big blocker with plenty of receiving skill
245: R7 P30 FS Bud Clark - TCU
6'2 185 4.5, 11 INT last 3 yrs

I don't love Grant. I don't know why... I just don't think he's worth a R1.

I like the way it turned out, but Bond seems like a luxury after DL with the first two picks. Maybe I'm just such a big fan of Membou at G that it feels like a gamble not to take him earlier. Tuimoloau gives me AJ Epenesa vibes, which I guess is still pretty good for a second-rounder. Tuten would be a great pick if I could see him as more of a complement to our current guys (I've been looking for tackle-breaking and contact balance in these things, Monty types). Big fan of Nash late, but then again I thought that Gustavus Adolphus great Ryan Hoag had a shot, too. For this draft, I'm leaning more toward Jack Bech in that spot, knee willing. Preiskorn's a steal there, IMSO a Kmet type where Kmet should've been drafted.Moriarty wrote: Tue Jan 07, 2025 3:02 pm Fanspeak, FAMBase

I think both Graham and Grant are being overrated right now at their respective projected pick ranges. Both should have good careers but I don't really see either becoming elite.wab wrote: Tue Jan 07, 2025 3:38 pm I don't love Grant. I don't know why... I just don't think he's worth a R1.

I've gone the other way. But man it's close. Not real sure either of the make it to #10. Almost 100% sure that both of them will not. I think either make our DL WAY better and hopefully one will be the pick. Since I have worries about the top OT, I much prefer going DL in the first and there are several IOL we can snag in the second round that should be solid. The key of course will be picking the right one, or perhaps ones.wab wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2025 1:08 pm I have cooled on Graham in favor of a pure pass rusher like Carter.

Ward and Sanders both have to go top 9 (don't think either should but I think both will);
Travis Hunter is take (given);
Jeanty is off the board (could happen, again don't think I would as a GM, but I bet it does);
2 teams like Banks and Campbell enough to spend a top 9 pick on them (I'm shying away from both, but could happen)
A team thinks they need to address their secondary and take Johnson or Starks (Ugh not liking that)
McMillan could take a spot.
That gets us to 8 meaning one would be there.
It's also possible if Graham is gone a team could feel the need to address DT more than DE and go with Grant (seems like a big stretch, but maybe the Saints at 9 or panthers at 8) It's more likely that is Carter is off the board a team may want to take a DE (Williams??? more than Mason).
So there is a realistic path for it to happen, just doesn't seem likely to me.

Membou's got some split opinion's going right now - half at 50ish, half at 100ish.
I would certainly agree 2nd G is more important than 3rd WR.
But, for now, the crop of good Gs seems to be large enough that I just can't see them all going in R2, so I was comfortable letting that ride until 72.
DE is a tough call.
I've waffled back and forth between "If you don't take an elite one at the top (which I usually don't, because I'm more confident in the top DT fits than I am the DE ones), wait until middraft or later" and "some of the R2 stuff is worthwhile".
I'm giving Roschon one more shot to see if 2023 or 2024 is the real version of him. If he looks bad in preseason, an adequate, 1yr, part-time power back isn't hard to snag.
I'm definitely not liking Preiskorn near Kmet level, but I think he's underrated the end of Day 3, where most have him now.

Right now I have the top 10 as:
1. Titans - Cam Ward
I just think teams are going to sour on the whole Sanders circus.
2. Browns - Travis Hunter
I wouldn't be surprised if he went #1
3. Giants - Mason Graham
They have to fix the DL, and I don't see Sanders as a fit.
4. Patriots - Abdul Carter
Vrabel being hired almost makes this a given
5. Jaguars - Will Johnson
They have a pretty big hole at corner.
6. Raiders - Shedeur Sanders
Not because Dion wants the job, but because I don't think Sanders belongs in the top 5
7. Jets - Will Campbell
Gives them bookends at OT
8. Panthers - Tetairoa McMillan
Big fast dude for Young to throw to
9. Saints - Ben Morrison
If he's healthy he's a top 10 pick. Could also go edge here.
10. Bears - Kelvin Banks
This is a tough one, and it really depends on who is coaching the team. But I think they will almost be forced to take Banks and stick him at LG for a year while they see what happens with Braxton and KA at tackle. There's a real big part of me that wants them to take Jeanty, but that would be a silly pick given the state of the OL and DL.

Solid work. I think the G-Men will try to get Sam Darnold if he hits FA. They have to fix the QB spot and I think I'd take a shot at him rather than Sanders. Good call on the Jags and Johnson. That could be a real thing, I'm just not sold on hm as a top 10 pick.wab wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2025 3:59 pm Right now I have the top 10 as:
Although Vrabel will likely want to focus on the D, their OL is about as much garbage as ours is, so Campbell/Banks could be in play there. If that happens and the Jets take whoever is left, I don't see Carter getting past the Saints.
So once again we miss out.
It's going to be a long time until April. Winning the last game was great and I don't know if I'd trade it. But I know I would trade that first win vs the Titans to move to the #7 spot. I think there is about a 10% chance we could see them both on the board and about 50/50 that at least one of them would be.

Well Walter's has Graham falling to #10 (sometimes I think they do good work, other I don't). In this case I don't see them taking Travis Hunter. Could be wrong as he is likely the BPA in the whole draft. I could see a team moving up to get him that would keep the picks as they are listed, but moving from the early 10s to 3 is going to cost a pretty penny.

A lot of mocks have Milroe pushed up into the top 10. That would cause someone to slide. I don’t see it though.

I think James Pierce or Jeanty could be an option at 10. But yeah I’m in agreement with that list.Z Bear wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2025 10:57 pm My current sim draft board:
