White Sox fire manager Pedro Grifol amid historically awful season

The Chicago White Sox finally ripped the bandage off. Amid a dismal and historically disastrous 2024 season (they're currently 28-89, worst in MLB by 14 games), the team fired manager Pedro Grifol on Thursday after less than two years at the helm.

We actually started the season 0-21, which is ever worse IMO. A local DJ on 98Rock about midway through the streak said he was going to stay live on the air until they won their first game lol...he was there for weeks.

My favorite DJ story was about a guy who worked at a rock n roll station that was switching over to country. He had the last shift and locked himself in the control room and played Bob Seger's Old Time Rock N Roll non-stop. Didn't even break for the mandatory FCC stuff. Would have been about '86 I think. Our newspaper had a column of stories from across the country that would get about 20 words. I remember clipping it out and kept it in my wallet for years. Was hoping a google search would give me something, but nothing on line about it.

Grifol never had a chance. Not saying he is a good or bad manager, that roster stinks. Maybe fire the GM. Why the hell does Reinsdorf even continue to have anything to do with this team? He wants a new stadium. States it would help turn them into a winner? Really? Has threatened to move the team. What city would want a loser team like this?
