Collin Johnson and Samori Toure are both on the PS. I wonder if they are looking at guys on the street to fill a PS spot if Johnson is elevated.
Johnson is also still nursing an injury IIRC.

Maybe the Bears are considering taking away Velus' KR job?

I really don't see any other way to interpret this news...

I don't see that happening. They just choose to keep him over getting picks in a trade. If they like him that much they aren't cutting hm week one IMO.

Yeah, C'mon, Odunze is out for weeks and Keenan is a little gimpy. Velus' job has never been more secure.

Doesn't take much speculation at all before the Velus Jones haters come out....LOL.Rusty Trombagent wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 3:05 pm Yeah, C'mon, Odunze is out for weeks and Keenan is a little gimpy. Velus' job has never been more secure.
Sounds to me like they're just doing what they normally do during the season when injuries pop up. If they end up elevating someone from the PS they usually sign someone to fill that spot. They need to kick some tires to do that.
I feel like these workouts could be simply to send Velus a message that he's on his final notice?Moriarty wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 5:15 pm Maybe the Bears are considering taking away Velus' KR job?

If they were dumping VJJ, they wouldn't have given him a carry late in the game deep in our own area of the field. (that was a questionable decision tho lol)

I want Velus gone more than anyone. But Poles didn't just turn down a pick to cut him the next week.
Shoulda took the pick!

So pretty much what you'd expect.Bears exploring creative solutions as injuries deplete WR depth
...
With Odunze (knee) unlikely to play Sunday at the Texans and Allen (heel) in question, the offense needs to patch together a crew of receiving options. Both missed practice Thursday.
Wide receivers coach Chris Beatty said Scott is “going to get some opportunities here coming up,” and that while Carter has played predominantly on special teams the last two seasons, “A lot of people don’t know how good he is.”
Beatty also mentioned the possibility of using Jones at receiver, though the Bears opted for Carter over him against the Titans and even had running back D’Andre Swift line up wide.
...
Passing game coordinator Thomas Brown also floated a workaround with tight ends Cole Kmet and Gerald Everett filling in the shortfall at receiver.
“We have supreme trust in every receiver we have active on game day, but also the benefit of having those two tight ends active,” Brown said. “We can use Gerald in some scenarios where he’s going to be in the slot as a receiver.”

I'd like to know what's up with Keenan Allen and this "heel injury". Is it the same issue that caused him to miss four games last season? Do we have a top slot WR or do we have a guy with a chronic injury whose gonna be out half the season?

I still want to know why TE Everett got more snaps than Kmet vs. Titans
it doesn't make sense

Started a whole thread about it on another forum I post on. Literally, that is mind blowing to me.ramentaschen wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 4:04 am I still want to know why TE Everett got more snaps than Kmet vs. Titans

I was so confused why Kmet's yardage prop was 21.5 and I bet it, too. I guess Vegas knew ahead of time.
Do you play fantasy football? You must know that Keenan always spends the whole year on the injury report.

No I don't and your statement isn't correct in as much as missed games are concerned. The injury report itself is as much gamesmanship as it is worthwhile.
Dude, he's always hurt and never practices. Misses games sporadically, but will limp all season, miss practice, miss a game here and there, play hurt, etc.
What's already started happening here? That's Keenan Allen's entire career. I am surprised he actually made it through as much camp as he did practicing fully. If you played fantasy, you would have context and understand.

Yes, this is absolutely correct. He will bring injury drama every damn week of the season. It's hard to establish team chemistry when dude doesn't practice and you don't know if he will suit up on Sundays. And then, when he is out there, demands an outsized share of targets.Richie wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 1:51 amDude, he's always hurt and never practices. They said on the broadcast last night that Allen's got plantar fasciitis, which makes sense of his injury being due to a cleats issue.
I had that once and it eventually figured out it was due to a pair of trainers (sneakers for you Americans) I'd bought not long before. When I stopped wearing them it cleared up fairly quickly. I wasn't running or playing sport in them though; they were just an everyday pair. I'd imagine a professional athlete sprinting around in footwear that is causing that issue is likely to result in it lingering for somewhat longer even after a change.
I seem to recall Julius Peppers being hampered by the condition when he was with the Bears.

Yea I didn’t like hearing that. I had it back when I used to play a lot of basketball and it lingered for a year. I was able to play, but for the two days following playing I was severely hobbled. It was really painful.

You don't have to call me Mister but I'm not your Dude. And I don't need to play FF to understand context. I've probably been watching NFL football before you were born so let's knock off the condescension OK? Despite missing 4 games last season Allen still caught 108 passed for over 1200 yards. D.J. Moore had about 100 yards more in 17 games.Richie wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 1:51 amDude, he's always hurt and never practices. He gets injured and misses some time. He also plays hurt some games. He had this same heel injury last year. So enough of that. All I was asking, and not of you, is when the guy will be back on the field since along with Kmet he's CW's main short yardage target and chain mover. Right now he's more important to the offense than Odunze.
Nothing you posted has anything to do with my question.

Practice point and chemistry points are more than fair.
Is there any evidence he "demands" an "outsized" share of targets though? Like any?

Why? Because I don't like condescension or being called dude? I have a name like everyone else here. Is it too much trouble to ask someone to use it?grendel2000 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 6:36 amBearfacts wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 4:29 am

Allen has plantar fascitis which is more involved than merely a sore heel or a "cleat problem". It can be nagging enough to cause him to miss multiple games which we don't need right now given other injuries. That was the answer I was looking for.
