While good for the matchup in 2 weeks, we can't have them stealing Carolina's First Pick status.

It bothers me to no end that this game is considered one of our "home games". I absolutely, positively, 100% hate it. It reduces our probability of a win throwing away a home game for a neutral field game, we have been winning at home since the middle of last year. Weird things seem to happen on these long travel games. We are the better team, I don't want weird things to happen, I want us to play in Soldier Field as touchdown favorites and move to 4-2 ahead of the bye week.
Hopefully they win anyways, but goddammit.

If it makes you feel any better @dplank I can guarantee you the crowd will make it feel every bit a home game. Bears fans will be in abundance whilst Jags fans will mostly be going to the Wembley game the following week.
The Vikings also have a "home" game at Tottenham this weekend and the Packers began their year in Brazil, albeit as the visiting team.

Great, so the Bears and Vikings play 8 games in their home stadium this year, and the Packers play 9? And get the additional benefit of 1 of their "road" games actually being a neutral field game? That's seems fair...HisRoyalSweetness wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 5:44 pm If it makes you feel any better @dplank I can guarantee you the crowd will make it feel every bit a home game. Because they still got 9 home games to make up for the road loss, whereas we only get 8.

I thought it would be Week 8 after the second of their two London games but it's not until Week 12, so late November after their games against the other NFC North teams plus the Eagles.

You have a point, Plank, but on the other side of the coin Bears and Vikes did not have to play in Brazil.
I'd say it's kind of a wash.

Wasn't the turf in Brazil even worse than Soldier Field's? I guarantee the field at Tottenham is a lot better than either so there is that.o-pus #40 in B major wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 1:37 pm You have a point, Plank, but on the other side of the coin Bears and Vikes did not have to play in Brazil.

I’m glad we didn’t play in Brazil. But it’s still garbage that GB plays 9 games at Lambeau while we play 8 at Soldier Field.

Since these games aren’t going away, I think they should do 4. One division that has 9 “home games” for the season in the home team and the teams they play are all from the same division in another conference. That at least creates some parity for the divisions.dplank wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 8:41 amGreat, so the Bears and Vikings play 8 games in their home stadium this year, and the Packers play 9? Pretty sure the goal is for every team to play an international game, leaving everyone with 8 home, 8 away, and 1 international/neutral.Arkansasbear wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 8:13 pmSince these games aren’t going away, I think they should do 4. Well they should keep it fair and do that, or don’t do any of it - but allowing one team in the NFCN to get an extra game at their home stadium is bullshit.

I don't understand why they don't play more games in Canada. They have the infrastructure, there is already a fanbase, start times could be the same as they are now, it's close enough that it wouldn't massively disrupt travel/schedules.

They're looking to build new fanbases and Canada probably won't boost from live games as much as Europe or S America will.

I'm honestly surprised they haven't gone after that oil money and played a game in the Middle East, yet.Moriarty wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 2:19 pmI think that's the answer.LacertineForest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 1:48 pm I don't understand why they don't play more games in Canada. I'm not saying they should, I am just surprised that they haven't considering how much they've thrown around for other sports. Probably political reasons keeping that one at bay.HurricaneBear wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 10:30 amGet some of that Saudi money like the WWE does?LacertineForest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 9:17 pm

I know the Saudis have thrown tons of money at the WWE, enough to even bring wrestlers out of retirement for the shows. I can't even imagine the amount they'd throw at the NFL. Never thought about it til you mentioned it but it is surprising they haven't explored that avenue.LacertineForest wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 12:03 pmI'm not saying they should, I am just surprised that they haven't considering how much they've thrown around for other sports. I was an NFL Live event this morning where Goodell was interviewed and then took part in a Q&A along with Peanut, Ronde Barber and Maurice Jones Drew.LacertineForest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 8:49 am Pretty sure the goal is for every team to play an international game, leaving everyone with 8 home, 8 away, and 1 international/neutral.
The subject of the international games came up and Goodell talked about expanding to other countries beyond those that have already hosted a game, particularly in the far east (although he didn't specify exactly which ones).
He also brought up having 16 overseas game, one for each team, but strangely he linked it to expanding the season to 18 games. I simply can't understand that. Having 8 home games, 8 away games and one overseas game a year makes sense. Some teams getting 9 home games and others only 8 doesn't, which is dplank's point.

Yeah, unless they're aiming for 2 international games a year (please, no), that's a bad idea, imo.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 6:07 pmI was an NFL Live event this morning where Goodell was interviewed and then took part in a Q&A along with Peanut, Ronde Barber and Maurice Jones Drew.LacertineForest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 8:49 am Pretty sure the goal is for every team to play an international game, leaving everyone with 8 home, 8 away, and 1 international/neutral.

I had a couple of layovers at the airport in Doha this year and it was ridiculously nice. Some of the architecture there is really impressive. It's not surprising at all for me to hear they are considering Qatar.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 6:00 pmA fellow Bears fan told me today that Qatar is being considered as a possible venue for an NFL game.LacertineForest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 9:17 pm I'm honestly surprised they haven't gone after that oil money and played a game in the Middle East, yet.

It would be controversial though. It's not a country with a good reputation on human rights. There was a lot of criticism when they were awarded the FIFA World Cup.LacertineForest wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 6:28 pm I had a couple of layovers at the airport in Doha this year and it was ridiculously nice. The Jags need a total gut and rebuild. They can’t be happy with that Trevor Lawrence deal right now.
