Interesting...
He's been playing out of position at DE, so I wonder if they are looking to trade for someone to better fit the position.

Big red flag here IMO. I don’t know what it is but something isn’t right

Since you a bit of insight most of us don’t if a guy has “locker room” issues is that something that normally gets out to other teams?
I was thinking that might be why no one offered anything for him.

Absolutely yes it does. The coaches all know each other, it's a really small group of people when you think about it and most of them have actually worked together at some point in their careers. Every coach has a guy or two that they know fairly well from another team. While they certainly won't field a direct phone call and answer questions or anything like that, these types of issues are talked about amongst each other during the off season. Sort of like a vague "Nate Davis is a pain in my asshole, guy just won't work" or stuff like that. GMs have DEEP networks of "informants" all over the league, so very little should get by them on the character front.Arkansasbear wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 1:28 pmSince you a bit of insight most of us don’t if a guy has “locker room” issues is that something that normally gets out to other teams?

I think this is almost certainly WAY incorrect.dplank wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 2:09 pmAbsolutely yes it does. Putting aside how tough Character is to actually assess (See Tua and hating One Coach and loving the next just off the top of my head - or Nick Saban saying his Crime prone LB is a good guy - Deebo saying Watson was "Michael Jordan")
The number one thing I have always heard about Draft Pick busts from Scouts/GMs, etc - "Just didn't know his character. " Is the theory that NFL Coaches are Gossip Girls and College guys (the whole gamut from Towel boy to Assistant Coach to HC) are Johnny Tightlips?
Also putting aside the incentive problem - If I'm Coaching for Tampa Bay - Why do I want to say help out the Lions with inside info (*). If Im Pitt and I think Claypool is a Turd - Why am I telling other teams that and tanking his trade value? (**)
(*) This is why you always hear Coaches/GMs talk about the importance of "getting a guy in the building" - Some of that is their perception of their Culture (your mileage may vary) and its effect - But the larger part - So we can see Day to Day with our own eyes. See what he does !
(**). Claypool - Great example of this. "very little should get by them on the Character Front". Everyone talks. "Known" Secret he's a Turd.....etc etc.
Lets see what happened with Claypool?
There was a BIDDING war to trade for him. Several teams put Legit offers for him - and we weren't even the only team that offered a 2nd Rounder.
