Not many names to be excited about here: Jasheen Davis, JJ Weaver, maybe Major Burns based on his 2023 season.

I don't know if the Bears need to be looking IOL late, but for some situations I'd be intrigued by Eli Cox and Clay Webb

Cox, maybe. At least he has 47 SEC starts to his credit (35 at C), even as a 6th year senior (he turned 24 this past October). I think he's a backup/spot starter, but maybe he's better than that.Moriarty wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2024 4:50 pm I don't know if the Bears need to be looking IOL late, but for some situations I'd be intrigued by Eli Cox and Clay Webb
I have zero confidence Clay Webb is anything more than a big fish in a small pond. Transferred from Georgia after playing five games in three years and five games, goes to Jax State and winds up starting at G, the same position he didn't want to play at Georgia cos he thinks himself a C. Maybe he'll impress in Orlando and get a call-up, but I am not expecting anything from him.

A deeper dive into the Hula bowl roster:
- Brady Cook might make it as a Jarrett Stidham/Mark Sanchez-tier backup QB.
- Elijhah Badger feels like he should be better than he is, but I think he still should be draftable.
- Jasheen Davis is a productive pass rusher with pedestrian physical gifts. He's likely to be drafted and make a team, but he's probably not more than a backup.
- Myles Purchase and Ayden White both show the skill to contribute to a roster. The question on both will be speed - maybe they'll get a Combine invite, but more likely we'll need pro day times.
- Brayden Swartout has a tackle build, and Reid Holskey a potential conversion to guard. They will need to display enough strength and power, so they'll need to show out in Hula practices.
