Hey all, just wanted to chime in to begin the offseason.

We've been through the gamut on this forum. This board started in 2008, and since then we've had the following seasons to discuss:

9-7
7-9
11-5 (Lost in NFCC)
8-8
10-6
8-8
5-11
6-10
3-13
5-11
12-4 (Lost in WC)
8-8
8-8 (Lost in WC)
6-11
3-14
7-10
5-12

We're all painfully aware of the post-Lovie coaching disasters, and the carousel of QBs since Jay Cutler. We've seen Trubisky and Fields fail/be failed by the organization. We're on our 3rd general manager since Jerry Angelo.

I don't know what's ahead for the team, as we're about to hire the 7th head coach since the forum started and possibly another GM (doubtful, but at this point it's all possible).

The team has demonstrably shown very little reason to keep coming back over most of the last dozen years.

This board isn't huge, and we like it that way. You guys bicker and bitch, argue and act childish from time to time. Hell, a few of you are very overtly not fans of one another, but at the end of the day we all keep coming back to the trough.

Thank you very much for continuing to tolerate this franchise in spite of ourselves and for choosing to pursue group therapy here at BFO. It's pretty damn cool that this site has lasted as long as it has with just how awful the team has been.

Here's to 2025 being a non-ass Bears season.
look at what they've done to my boy

Thanks to you, wab and Xee (I think those are all the site "chiefs") who keep this place going and maintain a site for Bears fans to blow off steam, with the occasional rare exultation of victory and foolish optimistic hopes that maybe this year, maybe ...

Chicago sports fans don't have much to crow about but it's our home even for some of us who don't actually live there. 2025 will be GREAT, I just know it!
San Francisco has always been my favorite booing city. I don't mean the people boo louder or longer, but there is a very special intimacy. Music, that's what it is to me. One time in Kezar Stadium they gave me a standing boo.

JFC @UOK I thought you were shutting the place down.

I've known a lot of you guys since 2003 and love that here we are, 22 years later, still talking/laughing/bickering. This place is my internet home (if that makes sense). I sincerely love and appreciate all of you and here's to a bright future -- WE ARE DUE DAMNIT!

thank you UOK for starting this up after our exodus from the site that shall not be named ... you, Xee and wab have provided a nice environment for our discussions even when our discussions end up sad and disappointing due to the actions by our beloved on the field (and off)

from refugees to standing on our own, and we have you 3 to thank ... so :toast: to you

I don't post as much as most of you, but I enjoy reading your thoughts. Thank you for the hosting the forums, managing them, and the discord also. I do enjoy the game chats when I'm not four or five plays behind. Cheers to a great 2025, and Go Bears.

And I reiterate the thanks to you, Xee and wab for providing a (relatively!) civilised forum for us all to enjoy. When life gets even tougher than following the Bears this place provides a refuge and very welcome distraction. Long may it continue.

It is my place to go most often while at work. My escape from stupidity and utter disgust for the judicial system. I have to come here for my sanity most during the work day.

Thanks for all who have kept it going since the departure from......you know......that other place/guy.

Many many thanks to everyone who's technically involved - UOK, wab, and Zee - to Middleguard and those who encourage his weekly pick'em contests and to all the Bear fans who come here to enjoy the most special pro football team in this land. Things are going to get better and better for our Chicago Bears.

HAHAHA! That's exactly what I thought G08 when I read it. <WHEW!!>

I have loved being a part of this forum since it started in 2008. Really appreciate all of the time and hard work that UOK and Xee have put into this site to keep it small, (somewhat) civil, and an organized intelligent place to go and discuss our Beloved. We'll get to the promised land eventually, and it will be amazing to share it with all of you when we do. :toast:

One of the things I love about this place is popping into Discord during games. Just to know I am not alone. I am not the only person who is loyal but has horrible judgement lol. They say misery loves company....well here to hoping for us to love each other company during an epic run of success by the Bears. Bear Down!

I can't imagine watching a Bears game without Discord, and all of you assholes to share it with. :D

This.

There are right ways and wrong ways to do what you guys do. This place is run just right.

Speaking as someone who has babysat (oops, moderated) a few boards, and those boards included RichH55, I offer you my thanks to the often thankless labor of love you to which you’ve dedicated so much of your time. I greatly don’t miss it and all the behind-the-scenes drama, and thus truly appreciate what you do. It is a really excellent group of personalities on this board. I’m very happy to be a small part of the masses.

I’m looking forward to winning another offseason with all you clowns. At least we’ll have won SOMETHING.

So glad that others from my old board led me here. Like others I appreciate all the mods do to keep this place up and running.

Wish I could join you guys more in the Discord, but tend to start the games a bit after kickoff so I can skip commercials and have it take less of my dad. Plus it gets a bit frustrating when I read “holy shit what a terrible time to fumble by the Bears” and somehow I’m 2 plays behind despite being watching if live.

I moved away from Chicago in 1980. Pre-Internet, it wasn't possible to follow the team closely (except for the Super Bowl team). I'm a relative newcomer to BFO. Was on several boards before this. One died from lack of members. Another (not to be named), members were totally incapable of treating others and their comments without insults; it wasn't discourse. I've found a site here with guys spanning all across the U.S. over to England. People might not always agree with what you say but it's discussed (mostly) without slitting someone else's throat. There are a lot of folk who are pretty sharp and bring good insight. Thanks to UOK, Xee, and Wab for keeping this place going and thanks to all the members for making this a real site where a fan can enjoy himself.

I think we just found out why the Bears break our hearts every year. Its this board. It's the posters. I say we ban one random poster every game they loose until they win the super bowl.

Happy to have found this place after the CBMB (Lights were on, but no one was home, in 2024) went self combusted in 2022. I like it here. I think I will stay. If you let me.
Who ever thought the Bears HC search would have to wait until the Lions completed their post season run?
What alternate universe is this?
Did I fall down the wrong trouser leg of time?
