Helluva game. A doink that actually worked.
Jayden Daniels - DAMN!!!! Hard to believe he is a rook. The guy was lights out.
Baker Mayfield running over Bobby Wagner was a highlight. Mike Evans just quietly goes along. Not sure why you don't hear more about that guy.

I saw the end. Commanders seem to have a horseshoe up their ass - lucky draw to get the Bucs, who I think were the weakest team in (weak division, weak schedule and still managed fewer wins than all of the wildcard teams). I hope Detroit demolishes them.

Yea it appears that way even though the stats are fairly close. But they aren't taking the same test, so you really never know about these comps...artbest01 wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2025 10:07 am Daniels is the goods. I love Caleb's talent, but, clearly, Daniels is the better QB and overall player - and it's not close. Hopefully, #18 closes the gap in the years to come

It's way too early to say one is better than the other. Obviously, it's true that Daniels has played very well this year and looks to have a bright future, but I don't think Daniels would have looked very good playing here this year. Conversely, I think Caleb would have looked pretty damn good in Washington.

He's certainly a much luckier player. A Hail Mary coming off and a kick ricocheting through off the upright versus losing to a Hail Mary and having a game winning kick blocked for starters.artbest01 wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2025 10:07 am Daniels is the goods. Those are the fine margins and the Bears usually seem to be on the wrong side.
Another way of looking at it is that Daniels has better teammates around him who come through for him in key moments.
He also has a better offensive line, better coaching and is obviously not discouraged from taking off running.

Happy for Daniels and I'd still take Caleb....
Love that he has found success, as have many in the class - Bo Nix waiving.... doesn't diminish what I think Caleb can and will be for us. All the points of teammates, coaching, execution, luck, etc... all apply and would apply to each one in different circumstances... Turns out - it was a good QB class and I'm glad we got one of the "good" ones. Great ones take years to prove, so no one is going to convince me of greatness pre 5 years of playing...

Want evidence God doesn't love us - we get the double-doink, they get the doink-in.
I can only hope God was playing the long game with us to land Caleb. Without the double-doink we might not have him.

Daniels got absolutely rocked near the sidelines very early in the game. I was impressed he got right up from it, and didn't appear to impact him one bit throughout the game.

That was a helluva hit. I didn't think he would get up. He was decleated.DTsFlappingGums wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2025 4:01 pm Daniels got absolutely rocked near the sidelines very early in the game. I was impressed he got right up from it, and didn't appear to impact him one bit throughout the game.

RG3 was better than Andrew Luck after year one also. Running QBs usually adjust quicker

I must admit I'm sick of hearing people online already saying the Bears took the wrong QB, blah, blah, blah. How quickly they forget the previous time Washington took a QB with the second overall pick who then won Rookie of the Year honours.LacertineForest wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2025 12:08 pm It's way too early to say one is better than the other. Jayden Daniels
- 17 games
- 331/480 (69.0%) for 3,568 yards (209.9 yards per game)
- 25 TD (5.2%), 9 INT (1.9%)
- 47 sacks (8.92%)
- 100.1 passer rating, 70.5 QBR
- 148 carries for 891 yards (52.4 yards per game), 6.0 ypc, 6 TD
- 4.459 total yards (262.3 yards per game)
- 31 TD (1.82 TD per game)
- 15 games
- 258/393 (65.6%) for 3,200 yards (213.3 yards per game)
- 20 TD (5.1%), 5 INT (1.3%)
- 30 sacks (7.09%)
- 102.4 passer rating, 69.4 QBR
- 120 carries for 815 yards (54.3 yards per game), 6.8 ypc, 7 TD
- 4,015 total yards (267.7 yards per game)
- 27 TD (1.80 TD per game)
Both had remarkably similar statistics especially bearing in mind one played 2 games more than the other.
Robert Griffin III was drafted after Andrew Luck. Amongst others drafted that year were Ryan Tannehill (R1), Russell Wilson (R3), Nick Foles (R3) and the man who took Griffin's starting job, Kirk Cousins (R4).
I'm pretty sure folk were saying the same things about RGIII that they're now saying about Jayden Daniels.
It's simply too soon to draw any conclusions about any of this year's rookie class. Daniels may well go on to have a stellar career, but nothing is guaranteed.
All anyone can state definitively is the obvious, namely that Daniels had the best season of this year's rookie crop of QBs.
