Hi, all. I'm new to Bears Fans Online. I was born in 1966, so I started being a Bears fan in the '70s. As a kid, it was frustrating to see Bob Avellini overthrow receivers by five feet, couldn't stand the inconsistency of Bob Thomas, was thrilled by Walter Payton's halfback-option passing abilities and his up-and-over-two-rows-of-linemen-to-score-at-the-goal-line leaps, and was inspired by the toughness of Doug Plank and Matt Suhey along with Walter's. Anyway, I'm putting a special request out there to see if I can get someone who's very special to me--a friend since 1987--to the Super Bowl. She saved my life when my best friend committed suicide in 2023, and it would mean so much to me if I could make something special happen for her. Here's my story at Go Fund Me. Take a minute to read it and respond to it the way you like. Thanks for your time in advance, Andrew in Lisle: https://gofund.me/7adbf4af

Welcome to the site Andrew, I wish you the best of luck with this. I’m pretty sure I can donate something in the next few days. I’llcome back to this thread. I guess we need to see the Bills get there first

Nice things should happen to nice people and your friend sounds like a nice lady

Taking a break from screen time for Lent. Wish me luck.

Thanks for the kind words, Ditka's dictaphone. By the way, a fantastic username. Kids today wouldn't know what a dictaphone is <laughs>. Or what a "no smoking" sign is, or what the TV Guide is. <laughs> Anyway, if you know anyone that might be willing to contribute a dollar towards my goal, feel free to send them the URL/website address link. Best, Andrew.

HI drewchas, and welcome!
We're glad to have you, but please remember this is a community first. Multiple 'fund my cause' posts beyond this one or repeated bumps of this thread for your cause won't exactly be smiled upon.

Duly noted. This is the first "fund my cause" post I've ever made anywhere in my life, and I won't be making another one. I don't know what you mean "repeated bumps of this thread for your cause" means. If you mean "repeated posts for your cause," then I understand you. Thanks. I'm definitely not wanting to annoy people.

Bumping a thread means that you would write a reply so that the thread gets "bumped" to the top of the forum again and has more visibility. I've seen some places where the reply text is literally just "bump"!drewchas wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 2:33 pm Duly noted. Anyway, thanks for sharing your story - I think it's a cool fundraiser and a great way to honor your friend. I hope you'll be interested in sticking around for some Bears conversation!

I heard the conversation with Ben Johnson's agent on the Score 670 on Friday afternoon, and I felt good about what he revealed about how the Bears are perhaps trying to evolve as an organization. It seems like hiring Ben Johnson is a good start.
