Only if Fran performed the procedure... It's his trademark and he gets pissed if other people infringe upon it.Umbali wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 5:32 pm is Francised like circumcised? Kinda late in life for that....

I wasn't sure KC had the cap space to fit him in under the tag. I wonder if they made some other moves.

I'm curious on the timing too.....like when do they need to be technically under enough to fit the 23 and change (is it at end of Tagging deadline?)Arkansasbear wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 10:12 am I wasn't sure KC had the cap space to fit him in under the tag. I wonder if they made some other moves.
Though it will be pretty easy to create the number....Basically simple restructure on Maholmes and either Chris Jones or Thunney should do it.
That Taylor contract isn't helping matters though

Cap space, salary cap, just word salad in the NFL. Teams do all sorts of funny shit to find $. I think it is ridiculous. The league needs a hard cap. Whatever someone signs for, it needs to be that. No restructuring, no turning bonuses into signing bonuses. Make the signed contract stick.Arkansasbear wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 10:12 am I wasn't sure KC had the cap space to fit him in under the tag. It doesn't bother me. All teams have the same access to the same tools to manage their cap. I think that a lot of fans celebrate a GM who they believe manages cap well without taking into account how soft the cap is to begin with. I get that it looks great and all each offseason to show you have tons of room, but in reality it doesn't really matter all that much when cap strapped teams routinely are able to keep their high priced FAs. So we aren't celebrating the right things, we should be celebrating a GM who stacks talent and championships, and IDGAF about how pretty our cap looks if we hoist a lombardy trophy.Otis Day wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 3:54 pmCap space, salary cap, just word salad in the NFL. KC like every other NFL team has until the beginning of the new league year on March 12 @ 4:00 pm EST to be at or under the mandated salary cap. I'm sure they have a plan to get it done and they also have the time between now and then to hammer out a long term deal with Smith.
I said long ago I believed there was only a 20% chance or less they'd allow Smith to hit FA so I'm not surprised they've tagged him. Is it an Exclusive Rights Tag or a Non-Exclusive Rights Tag? Anyone know?

I dont know for sure.....but I'd heavily, heavily, heavily assume its the Non-Exclusive Rights oneBearfacts wrote: Sat Mar 01, 2025 3:28 am KC like every other NFL team has until the beginning of the new league year on March 12 @ 4:00 pm EST to be at or under the mandated salary cap. I read somewhere non exclusive but not sure if that was fact or just some dude posting some shit. Either way it’s a hard no for me, I’m not setting the market price on a G AND giving up trade assets as well. I was ready for this and happy to go to the next best option.

Good lineman rarely hit the market.
Try to fill one hole in FA and spend a bunch of early draft capital on lineman.
