I guess they've got their bridge QB. Cost them a 3rd round pick.
I wonder what the Seahawks plan is? With the #18 pick they're not in a great place to draft one of the top QB prospects, assuming any in this class actually qualify as one.
The Falcons are keeping Cousins, so that's one veteran off the market which will increase the competition for those that are available.
I can't imagine they'll bring Wilson back so who does that leave? Darnold, Rodgers, Fields and Minshew?

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins met with owner Arthur Blank on Wednesday and the team doesn't intend to release him, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Friday, per sources.

I'm not so sure it's about Kirk, who per the article has said "he is looking to continue his career in 2025, either with the Falcons or elsewhere". It' more likely the salary situation the Falcons got themselves in with his contract. Also from the article:
I wouldn't rule out a post-June 1 trade. They might also want to see how Penix looks this year before moving on from Cousins. Maybe they'll hang on to him until the injuries start to kick in during the season and another team gets desperate.Cousins has three years left in his contract with the Falcons and he carries a cap number of $40 million in 2025. The 36-year-old has $27.5 million in guaranteed salary for next season, but none after. Cousins' deal makes it difficult for Atlanta to trade him away pre-June 1, as the Falcons would save $2.5 million but take on $37.5 million in dead money in 2025, plus $25 million in 2026 and $12.5 million in 2027.
A post-June 1 trade would incur $12.5 million of dead money in each of the next three seasons, but a cap savings of $27.5 million this year and $45 million in '26 and '27.

@wab maybe we could change the title of this thread to "2025 QB Carousel"?
Darnold is not expected to return to the Vikings, who are now focused on other quarterback options they've been pursuing in recent weeks, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo reported Saturday, per sources.
The Vikings' first-round pick J.J. McCarthy (knee) is expected to be cleared to practice this spring after missing his rookie season and could see his time coming in 2025, but Minnesota still wants to add a veteran, Pelissero reports.
Among those options for the Vikings is re-signing veteran Daniel Jones, who is mulling multiple opportunities including that with the Indianapolis Colts, per Rapoport and Pelissero. Aaron Rodgers, who remains under contract with the Jets, is considered a dark-horse candidate to land in Minnesota, per Rapoport.

I think Cousins is a part of it too.....He will look to be traded after the NFL Draft - Make sure he doesn't get Mike Glennoned againHisRoyalSweetness wrote: Sat Mar 08, 2025 11:57 amI'm not so sure it's about Kirk, who per the article has said "he is looking to continue his career in 2025, either with the Falcons or elsewhere". Pete Carroll brought him into Seattle and obviously still likes him. He's had some good years after a pretty sad start to his career. The Raiders weren't in a position to draft one of the premier QBs although I wouldn't be surprised if they draft one to compete against Smith (ala Russell Wilson, 3rd pick after the 'Hawks had signed a top FA QB).

Saints signal moving forward with Derek Carr by converting most of his 2025 salary into signing bonus
A new head coach doesn't appear to mean a new starting quarterback in New Orleans.
After several talks with Derek Carr about his 2025 compensation, the Saints are converting most of his salary this year into a signing bonus, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Saturday.
Considering he is now set to make his full $40 million salary in 2025, Garafolo added that New Orleans' conversion indicates the team intends to move forward with him as QB1 for the upcoming season.

How does this affect the Raiders 1st round pick? No QB now. WR - the guy from Arizona? If Jax, hopefully, takes him at 5 to replace guys they've jettisoned, will the Raiders go Jeanty? Pete Carroll loves a strong running game. It would be great if Jax doesn't go Graham.

I think it's possible they still draft a QB at 6 if there's a guy they like but think he needs a year or someone falls (Falcons did it last year and Pete Carroll had history drafting a guy when they just paid a lot for a QB - Russell Wilson / Matt Flynn, although Flynn was a FA signing, not a trade). I agree, though, is probably best to assume they're not drafting a QB there.Grizzled wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 9:42 am How does this affect the Raiders 1st round pick? No QB now. Bills, reigning MVP Josh Allen agree to six-year deal worth $330 million
...
Quarterback Josh Allen has agreed to a six-year deal worth $330 million with $250 million guaranteed that keeps him in Buffalo through 2030, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday. The team later announced the pact.
Allen will now make $55 million per year after winning his first career MVP this past season, which is second behind only the Dallas Cowboys' Dak Prescott ($60 million) for average annual value.

A reminder of the free agent QBs on nfl.com's Top 101 list looking for a home:
4.Sam Darnold
19. Justin Fields
53. Jameis Winston
56. Russell Wilson
64. Jacoby Brissett
74. Jimmy Garoppolo
85. Daniel Jones
Aaron Rodgers is still under contract with the Jets but will be moving on. He has a dead cap hit of $49m this season and 4 void years including a dead cap of $35m next year so it's going to be a trade one way or another to reduce the dead cap amount the Jets will otherwise incur.

Apparently Fields is linked pretty heavily to the Jets.

The Broncos are re-signing Jarrett Stidham on a two-year, $12 million deal with $7 million guaranteed per Rapoport.
Seems generous for a guy who completes less than 60% of his passes and has thrown as many INTs as he has TDs.

Denver feels it is fair compensation for the possibility of getting clipboard callouses and bench splinters. Chase Daniel approves of this contract.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: Mon Mar 10, 2025 12:00 pm The Broncos are re-signing Jarrett Stidham on a two-year, $12 million deal with $7 million guaranteed per Rapoport.

Bears are actually dating the Prom Queen, who would have thought it?
