David Montgomery (my comp for him) ran a 4.58 at his Pro Day.
Josh Jacobs ran a 4.65, etc.

I'm confused...did people think he was blazing fast, or something?

No, but being both slow and small and not having much wiggle either is typically not a very good combination lol. I just can't see him breaking tackles in the pro's like he did in college. He's a mini me version of Mike Alstott IMO.Heinz D. wrote: Sat Mar 29, 2025 9:27 am I'm confused...did people think he was blazing fast, or something?

There's been a few guys good at breaking tackles but they take lots of physical punishment and burn out quicker. Guys I call hammers: Earl Campbell, 5 really productive years and 5 with much fewer carries. Eddie George 8 productive and 1 mediocre year. Derrick Henry seems to be the energizer bunny, he ran for 1900 yards + in his ninth season.dplank wrote: Sat Mar 29, 2025 9:58 amNo, but being both slow and small and not having much wiggle either is typically not a very good combination lol. Yea those guys weren't 5'9 shrimps though...I don't mind having hammers, Derrick Henry was an MVP candidate last year. But you can't be a little dude in the NFL that has a big boy play style.Grizzled wrote: Sat Mar 29, 2025 10:05 amThere's been a few guys good at breaking tackles but they take lots of physical punishment and burn out quicker. Well, anybody thinking he is a feature back is fooling themselves, that's for sure. He's complimentary/rotational, at best.dplank wrote: Sat Mar 29, 2025 9:58 am No, but being both slow and small and not having much wiggle either is typically not a very good combination lol. Not sure why his draft status is such a big thing. There are a lot of dumb GMs who could draft him earlier than they should. He could then suck, so the draft status is kind of nil. We know there are dumb GMs, I mean some are still courting A A Ron.

Best case scenario, Skattebo is approximately Kareem Hunt (hopefully without the off-field stuff in college and the NFL). More likely, he's closer to James Robinson pre-Achilles injury. That's probably still worth a Day 3 pick.

What the hell is the deal with Queen Latifah stuff? I don't get it.
Does that all stem from something that went down before I arrived?

In this draft, I don't think anybody will be drafting him at #72, dude. We'll see. He's a good player, so you never know.

He didn't get that many carries in his first 2 or 3 seasons, which has probably contributed to him still going strong into his 30s.Grizzled wrote: Sat Mar 29, 2025 10:05 am Derrick Henry seems to be the energizer bunny, he ran for 1900 yards + in his ninth season.

I think this game shows what he is
His oline was outclassed so he got the muddy backfields and tiny lanes he'll see in the NFL. You see him make the best of what's available. I don't think he's special but I think he's an NFL caliber player that deserves the mid-round grades he's got

8 receptions / 99 yards / 12.4 ypr
1 passing attempt / 1 completion / 42 passing yards / 1 passing TD
That's a dominant performance against the #3 scoring defense in college football, one who gave up 3.2 yards per carry last season.

But you do bring up a fair point....maybe he's reverse Justin Fields and he's a better QB prospect then HB? Might help him in this class
