Thank you to everyone for the welcome!
Look forward to posting and getting to know you all. Though I do believe I know a few of the posters here!
A new Era begins in the NFC North!

Sadly, it does not involve the Bears.... :frustrated:

Shadow wrote: Sun Aug 07, 2022 12:06 pm Hello everyone...new here.
Bears fan since 1980.
Looking for a new home since the last one finally died a slow pitiful death.
Hoping this is the new one.
I am looking forward to seeing this iteration of the Bears. It has to be better than what we have seen for the last 10 years.
Got to walk before you run.
Go Bears!
Welcome aboard.

Been here for something like 7 years and I've been a Bears fan since I was a kid in '85. You would think being a fan for almost 40 years means that I secretly hate myself and have self esteem issues but I promise neither of those are true. I don't know why I put myself through this. It must be something in my genetic programming. I don't know.

Good group of people here. The disagreements don't get personal.

We also like to have fun and crack jokes about how stupid the Bears are. Especially their ownership.

There's also a Discord function during games where you can show up and chat with those of us who are there.

Edit: The one big rule around here is that politics are off limits. If you want to talk about the move to Arlington Heights, go for it. There's already a thread about that. However please don't start a discussion about the war in Ukraine or anything like that.

Welcome, Matt. Very good group on here, certainly adds to being a Bears fan. Check out Discord during games if you like to comment on the action. I live in NE PA, been here for a few years, grew up north of Chicago. Been a Bears fan since '63, I'm incurable regardless of how shitty the team plays.

Yeah, just ignore the Iggles/Steeler/Jets/Giants fans in the area. Actually they're not too obnoxious. Biggest issue is how few Bears games we get televised. I use an app called DofuStream on my iPad to watch most of them.

We live in the Lone Oak subdivision off Tanglewood Rd. Just off 289. We are the first subdivision on the left. I am a 2 min drive to the lake. Love the area. Come by and say hello if you’re in the area

Originally from: Secor, IL
Bears fan Since: 1980
Favorite Food: Tacos
Favorite drink: Beer.
Biggest hate: Fake front-runner fans like all the "Packers fans" that appeared in Central IL after Favre started winning games for Green Bay.
Misc: I'm almost a normal Illinois sports fan: Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, Bradley Braves (basketball, alma mater), and then the New York Mets. No idea why or how I became a Mets fan, have been for as long as I can remember. Two theories on how that happened: 1) I was the front-running fan I don't like when I was a little kid and the Mets were good or... 2) My parents are from Scranton, PA, and grew up as Yankees fans. Perhaps it was some kind of juvenile rebellion to root for the other NY team.

This is strangely timed since I've been occasionally posting here for many years. I came here from the Monsters of the Midway board. I'm from the Peoria area originally but I've moved around quite a lot (China, Japan, Minnesota) and have been in living in Hanoi, Vietnam for the last six years where I have my business. Anyway, been a Bears fan since before I can remember, and can just barely remember Super Bowl XX as a five year old. I know another Bears fan here, and though the time difference is a major problem, we manage to watch almost all the Bears games... Sometimes on tape delay with a media blackout. I'm pretty excited about this iteration of the Bears!

Haha, the climate in Hanoi is not ideal, but I'm never going to back to the disastrous frozen north with its 6 months of winter (and Vikings fans).

I am just up the road from your birthplace. I am in Galesburg. Frequent Peoria quite a bit. Happened to be there last night. Anniversary supper at the Longhorn Steakhouse.

Cool, Longhorn is a good old steakhouse. I'm from the other side of the river, a farm out near Eureka. I think both cities have suffered a bit in recent years, but I still like coming home to visit (plus immediate family is all sitll there).

Hello - new board member here.

I am 74 and I live in Thailand. I remember listening with my uncles to (over the radio) the Bears beating the Giants for the 1963 championship. It was bitterly cold in Chicago that day. I had completed my paper route much earlier in the day on the Southwest side of Chicago. My feet still hurt from the cold.

Y. A. Title was driving the Giants toward a game winning score when Richie Petitbon intercepted a pass in the end zone with 12 seconds left in the game.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1963_NFL_ ... rnal_links

Butkus, Sweetness, and many more came later. The 1985 Bears were an incredible fan experience. Recent years have been glum to say the least. I really like what management has done in the current rebuild. This is the first time that I have genuinely looked forward to a Bears season in many a year. The best part IMO is that current management has not sacrificed future draft picks as part of the rebuild.

I hope injuries do not become a big problem, as IMO they still lack depth.
